This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
The anime and manga series One Piece is now focused on the Elbaf arc, and a particularly crucial part of it. Currently, the story is revealing more about Loki’s past, and has finally introduced the highly anticipated pirate, Rocks D. Xebec, to fans.
As many fans are aware, Rocks was an incredibly strong fighter – even Roger struggled to defeat him. Recently, Ods has shared a surprising connection: Rocks D. Xebec was linked to Davy Jones, another famous pirate who also happens to be an ancestor of Blackbeard.

The introduction of Rocks D. Xebec in One Piece chapter 1154 immediately led fans to believe he was connected to Blackbeard. His facial resemblance was a strong hint, but author Eiichiro Oda made it explicit by revealing Rocks’s title as Blackbeard’s father. Even before this confirmation, many fans had theorized that Rocks was Blackbeard’s dad, pointing to the fact that Blackbeard’s ship is named after Xebec and that they share the same ambition.
The man declared himself a follower of Davy Jones. Feeling helpless to change the situation, he departed with a chilling promise: “I’ll be back, right here!” – as recounted by the narrator regarding Rocks D. Xebec.
Chapter 1155 of One Piece revealed the true goals of the Rocks Pirates, and it turns out Blackbeard shares the same ambition. This suggests Blackbeard has carefully studied the Rocks Pirates and their aims, and now intends to follow in their footsteps as their successor.
Rocks Was A Worshipper Of Davy Jones
Davy Jones Was A Real One Piece Pirate
Fans know Rocks D. Xebec openly opposed the World Government and aimed to overthrow Imu, becoming the ruler of the world. However, this desire wasn’t random – Rocks admired a figure named Davy Jones. Importantly, Davy Jones is a historical pirate within the One Piece universe, meaning Imu is aware of him. Rocks even deliberately brought up Davy Jones to Imu.
You’ve mistaken me for someone else – I’ve never encountered this person. However, I always believe in honoring commitments! – Rocks, when referred to as Davy Jones.
Rocks is related to Davy Jones and inherited his powerful will. This likely explains how he rose to become the King of Pirate Island and became such a formidable threat.
Davy Jones Is Blackbeard’s Ancestor
Like Rocks D. Xebec, Blackbeard is probably a descendant of Davy Jones – this makes sense considering he’s believed to be Rocks’s son. It’s likely Imu fears Davy Jones, and now Blackbeard will act on his behalf, causing major problems in the current era. A large-scale war is coming, and when it begins, fans can expect unprecedented chaos from both Davy Jones’s lineage and the emergence of Nika.
As a child, I dreamed of creating a manga with an incredibly exciting climax. I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off! Now, after 25 years, we’re nearing the end of the Wano arc and everything is almost ready. You can jump into the story here if you’re new, because from this point on… it’s going to be the grand adventure of ONE PIECE! I’ll be revealing all the secrets of this world – it’s going to be a thrilling ride! Buckle up, and please stick with me a little longer! — Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022
The newest chapter of One Piece is coming out this week, as it typically does on Sundays. While it will be released in Japan at midnight on Monday (JST), most fans around the world will be able to read it on November 2nd. The chapter will be available for free on Manga Plus.
