One Piece Holy Knights Stronger Than Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy is the central character in the popular series *One Piece* and leads the Straw Hat Pirates. He earned the title of Yonko after the Wano Country arc, and while some questioned if he deserved it at first, he’s since proven himself in the stories that followed.

Luffy is now powerful enough to be considered among the strongest characters in One Piece, but he still isn’t strong enough to defeat them all. Certain characters, like the Holy Knights, pose a significant challenge for him.

Saint. Figarland Shamrock

Family: Figarland

  • Devil Fruit: None

St. Figarland Shamrock leads the Holy Knights and is the twin brother of Shanks. The two were separated as babies during a chaotic event called the God Valley Incident. Dragon attempted to kidnap both of them, but a Holy Knight rescued Shamrock, leading to the brothers growing up with vastly different lives.

Shamrock joined the World Government as a Holy Knight, pledging loyalty to Imu. At the same time, Shanks rose to become a famous and powerful pirate. The two seem to be evenly matched in strength. Shamrock is incredibly skilled in Haki and wields a unique sword that can transform into a three-headed Cerberus. He used this sword to seriously wound Loki during the events in Elbaf. Although he didn’t participate directly in the fighting there, Shamrock is currently stronger than Luffy.

Shepherd Sommers

Family: Shepherd

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: Iba Iba no Mi

Shepherd Sommers first appeared during the Elbaf arc, alongside Killingham. He’s a very determined and clever individual who will do whatever it takes to finish the job. During this arc, Sommers was assigned to kidnap children and silence anyone who interfered. Because he had a lot of leeway, Sommers wasn’t afraid to use his Devil Fruit powers.

Sommers’ Devil Fruit, the Iba Iba no Mi, lets him grow thorny vines whenever he wants. While it might not sound like much, this power provides surprisingly good protection and attack options. He can easily trap opponents with the vines, or use them to shield himself from harm. Plus, like other Holy Knights, Sommers can heal quickly, and Luffy hasn’t figured out how to overcome that healing ability, meaning Luffy can’t win against him.

Gunko

Family: Manmayer

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: Aro Aro no Mi

Gunko is a fascinating Holy Knight introduced during the Elbaf arc. She initially appears as a loyal follower of Imu, but her history is surprisingly complex. Throughout most of the arc, she follows orders without question, but this changes when she hears Brook speak. There’s even a brief scene suggesting she recognizes someone who looks like Brook. However, she’s unable to act on this recognition because Imu takes control of her body.

Gunko has a fascinating history, but her abilities are equally impressive. Her Devil Fruit, the Aro Aro no Mi, is incredibly versatile, allowing her to reflect attacks back at opponents or redirect them entirely. She can even enlarge her limbs to boost her strength. Combined with her mastery of Haki and the fact that she’s immortal, these powers give her a significant advantage over Luffy.

Rimoshifu Killingham

Family: Rimoshifu

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Qirin

Killingham arrived in Elbaf when the attack began, but he didn’t show his true form until later because he was constantly using his Hybrid transformation. We don’t know much about his history, but it’s clear he’s a formidable opponent. He possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Qilin, a Devil Fruit that lets him transform into a qilin.

Killingham’s Devil Fruit dramatically boosts his strength and stamina, letting him fight longer and take more punishment. He can also lull people into a deep sleep, making them vulnerable, and even manifest their worst fears as real monsters. This power could allow him to single-handedly defeat an entire army.

Saint. Figarland Garling

Family: Figarland

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: No

St. Figarland Garling leads the Holy Knights and has ultimate authority over them. He took over as leader after Saturn’s death, and continues to be fully in charge of all Holy Knight operations.

Figarland participated in the battle at God Valley, though his opponent remains unknown. It’s believed he fought a member of the Rocks Pirates. Because we haven’t seen Figarland Garling fight directly, it’s hard to assess his strength. Given his position as one of the Gorosei, he’s likely as powerful as one of the Yonko. He’s skilled in both Haki and swordsmanship, combining both in battle.

Saint Maffey

Family: Unknown

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: No

Saint Maffey was a knight who participated in the Celestial Dragon Hunting Competition in God Valley. Like many in her role, she lacked compassion and morals, and readily harmed others. She notably attacked Dragon when he was a young Marine.

Maffey, being a Holy Knight, possesses the ability to regenerate and effectively avoid death. She demonstrated this power when Whitebeard bisected her, but she survived. Because Luffy currently struggles to harm Holy Knights or anyone who can regenerate, Maffey would win in a fight against him.
