As a long-time fan of One Piece, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as we delve deeper into the Elbaf Arc. This arc holds immense potential for two of my favorite characters, Usopp and Nami, and it seems Oda has some big plans in store for them.
This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Key Takeaways
- Usopp and Nami need major power-ups post-timeskip
- Elbaf will provide opportunities for Usopp and Nami to grow
- After Elbaf, Usopp and Nami should be strong enough to face Vice Admirals
Among the most anticipated One Piece story arcs, Elbaf stands out as one of the most significant ones. Hints about this arc were dropped in Little Garden, and ever since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating the Straw Hat Pirates’ arrival. Now, after more than two decades, the story has finally reached Elbaf, and it’s safe to say that the journey ahead promises an unforgettable adventure of epic proportions.
In every instance, the Straw Hat Pirates remain at the heart of events in Elbaf. Characters like Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, who usually take center stage in each arc, are undoubtedly crucial players in this one too, without a shadow of doubt. Yet, it’s also clear that other One Piece characters will receive significant focus during the Elbaf arc, and fans are well aware that this could be pivotal for Usopp and Nami on multiple levels.
Nami and Usopp Post Timeskip Problems
- Nami and Usopp Have Not Received Proper Care
- Nami and Usopp Remain Weak
Among the Straw Hat Pirates, Usopp and Nami, who joined early on, are notable for their unique characters. However, they’re often among the least powerful members of the crew. Known as the “Weakling Trio” along with Chopper, they frequently exhibit fear towards their enemies, which is a source of humor in many chapters. Yet, considering the Straw Hat Pirates have risen to the rank of Yonko crews, Usopp and Nami’s current weakness is a concern. Post-timeskip, when each Straw Hat became stronger, Usopp and Nami didn’t exhibit significant growth compared to others. This doesn’t mean they haven’t improved at all; they have indeed strengthened themselves.
Usopp, you could’ve dealt with a threat like that on your own! – Luffy
In his journey, Usopp focused on both physical training and studying Pop Greens guided by Heracles. This double effort made him stronger than he’d ever been before. He also acquired Observation Haki during the Dressrosa Arc, but hasn’t used it much since then. Still, many One Piece fans view his power level as relatively low after the timeskip.
Similar to Nami, she mastered weather magic and advanced technological combat on Weatheria. This knowledge was applied to her fighting style, notably the Climatact. Usopp enhanced the Climatact further, and currently, Nami has incorporated Zeus into her collection of weapons. As a result, she is stronger than ever. However, her current strength does not make her a fearless fighter capable of defeating most opponents, save for those at the highest tiers like the Admirals and the Yonko.
For Nami, her performance has been lackluster since the conclusion of Whole Cake Island. Wano was a letdown for both Nami and Usopp, much like it was for many viewers. Additionally, Egghead hardly observed any significant actions from these characters during this period, causing further discontent among fans. However, this isn’t an indication that these characters won’t play crucial roles in the story. Instead, it’s mostly because Nami and Usopp are expected to have their major moments in Elbaf, as this arc seems tailor-made for them in many ways.
Why Elbaf Can Give Usopp And Nami Major Power Ups
Usopp and Nami Share A Connection With Elbaf
For Usopp and Nami, the colossal nature of Elbaf will hold significant meaning. It’s understood that Usopp finds immense motivation in the giant race, as evident when he first stepped onto Little Garden. There, he recognized his desire to emulate Giants. His affectionate bond with Dorry and Brogy, whom he affectionately refers to as masters, is indeed heartwarming. Essentially, Usopp draws inspiration from the Elbaf Giants, striving to be like them in some way.
With Usopp now on Giants’ Land, it’s high time for him to elevate himself significantly and prove to all that he indeed deserves the honor of being a valiant Sea Warrior. In essence, Usopp’s lifelong dream – to become a Brave Sea Warrior – could finally materialize in Elbaf, which is truly monumental. This island will provide him with an opportunity to train alongside Giants, immerse himself in their culture, and strengthen his resolve even more. Usopp will need to abandon his timid ways that have characterized much of the series and transform into a dependable fighter instead. However, Oda can still use Usopp and his humor in numerous entertaining ways down the line. Yet, against ordinary adversaries, Usopp must start being dependable – a giant leap for him indeed.
Similarly to Usopp, who has a specific dream linked to Elbaf, Nami doesn’t have such a clear-cut aspiration for this place. However, fans are aware that Oda hinted that if Nami existed in reality, she would be from Sweden. This suggests that Elbaf might symbolize Nami’s homeland in some ways, which could mean a lot to her. Moreover, Elbaf shares connections with Nordic mythology and culture, much like Sweden does. In essence, Oda might be depicting Elbaf as Nami’s personal home turf. This connection is significant for her character development. Interestingly, Oda seems to view Nami and Usopp as a team when it comes to the Straw Hat Pirates’ progression, often referred to as the Weak Trio.
Luffy will never stop until he becomes the Pirate King! – Nami
For Usopp, this upcoming arc is expected to be significant, but it’s also shaping up to be impactful for Nami as well. While some fans might concentrate solely on Usopp, they often overlook Nami who could potentially take fans by surprise the most. As a character, Nami draws inspiration from Scandinavian culture, hinting at the arc’s unique connections with her. Right from the start of this arc, Nami has already experienced two substantial moments. One moment highlighted her exceptional skills as a cartographer and navigator, while another provided an opportunity for her to compete against Road, the navigator of the New Giant Warrior Pirates.
How Strong Will Usopp And Nami Be After Elbaf?
Usopp And Nami Need To Be Strong Enough To Take Out The Average Vice Admirals
After the Elbaf Saga, it’s reasonable to assume that Usopp and Nami have gained enough strength to warrant their current bounties. In fact, there’s a possibility that their bounties could increase even more. Fans have long felt that Usopp’s 500 million berry bounty is unjustified, but after Elbaf, he should certainly deserve such a high reward. As for Nami, with her current 366 million berry bounty, she should now be capable of facing and defeating veteran Yonko officers like Ulti without any assistance. This is the level of skill that fans expect Usopp and Nami to have reached following the Elbaf Saga, and they hope that Oda appropriately develops these characters accordingly.
