As a huge One Piece fan, it was always understood that Logia Devil Fruits were the most powerful! Eiichiro Oda made that pretty clear before the timeskip. But then the Paramount War happened, and we learned something amazing: Mythical Zoans are actually rarer than Logias. It’s cool to know they’re so scarce, but rarity doesn’t automatically mean stronger. Logias still pack a serious punch and remain some of the most formidable Devil Fruits in the series, in my opinion!
After Haki was introduced, Logia-type Devil Fruits became less of a threat, and we’ve seen fewer of them appear in the story. Instead, Oda has increasingly focused on Mythical Zoan fruits, giving them to most of the strongest characters. For example, Kaido and Luffy both have Mythical Zoan abilities, and in the Final Saga, the Five Elders and even Loki were revealed to possess similar Yokai powers. It seems like most of the powerful characters in the final arc have Mythical Zoan abilities, while Logia types have essentially disappeared.

Oda made it clear a long time ago that Logia Devil Fruits are the most powerful type. This is because they let users transform into and control a natural element, giving them incredible power that no other Devil Fruit can match. This unique ability is what makes Logia fruits so special.
Since the introduction of powerful Devil Fruit Awakenings in the Dressrosa arc, Logia-type fruits seem to have a lot of untapped potential. It’s important that Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, revisits and strengthens this fruit type as the story nears its end. A perfect character to do this with is Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, who is strongly hinted to possess the power of a Storm Logia fruit.
2. The Narrative Significance Of Dragon’s Storm-Based Elemental Ability
Monkey D. Dragon is an exceptionally strong Devil Fruit user, a fact established when he first appeared in the Loguetown Arc around chapter 100. He demonstrated his abilities by controlling the weather – creating strong winds, rain, and even lightning – to rescue his son, Luffy. It’s obvious he has the power to manipulate the elements.
During Luffy’s flashback about the Grey Terminal incident, it became apparent that Dragon used his wind powers to create an escape route for those trapped there. This demonstrates his control over the weather, particularly storms, suggesting he possesses a Logia-type Devil Fruit – one that allows the user to transform into and control a natural element.

The Elbaf Arc in One Piece strongly suggested that storms are widely feared and seen as a divine power. If Dragon possesses the Storm Storm Fruit, it would make him incredibly powerful – potentially one of the strongest Devil Fruit users in the series – and would also re-establish the Logia type Devil Fruits as the most formidable abilities.

To achieve this, he needs immense power, and a Logia-type Devil Fruit would be ideal.
