  • Garp, known as the Hero of Legends, is hailed as the strongest Marine in One Piece history.

In the fictional universe of One Piece, the Marines serve as the World Government’s military arm, renowned for their extraordinary might. Their power is unparalleled, and it’s widely recognized that their strongest members can engage in combat with the powerful Emperor-level characters.

As a dedicated fan of One Piece, I’ve come to appreciate that while Marines may not always match up to the mighty pirates, they certainly boast some formidable members. History is filled with powerful Marine characters who have left an indelible mark, and there are others on the verge of creating their own legends, standing tall among the pantheon of greats. However, there’s one figure in the Navy that towers above all: a true titan in every sense!

The Admirals Stand At the Very Top

It’s not surprising to learn that the Admirals in the One Piece universe are the strongest among the Marines. They serve as the military representation of the World Government and possess a strength so formidable that they are difficult for any character in the story to defeat. Equipped with powerful Devil Fruits and majestic Haki, the Admirals are indeed an awe-inspiring sight. Simultaneously, it’s well-known among fans that the Admirals are among the most wanted individuals globally, due to their association with the Cross Guild.

In the One Piece universe, it’s been made clear by Oda that these characters are exceptionally powerful. A bounty of 3 Crowns on their heads translates to an astounding 3 billion berries, showcasing just how elite they are as fighters.

Nonetheless, it’s common knowledge among fans that the strength within their ranks is not uniform. Some Admirals exhibit great power, while others are considered elite. Interestingly, there are naval characters who, though they aren’t Admirals, are acknowledged as the strongest within the fleet.

There Are Three Major Contenders For The Greatest Marine Of All Time

In terms of the most powerful Marine, it’s logical that fans might assume one of the Admirals would hold that title. Interestingly, however, none of the Admirals seem to fit the bill for the strongest Marine role. Instead, three notable candidates have emerged as strong possibilities in the story thus far.

  • Sengoku: Fans know Sengoku to be the former Fleet Admiral. It was during his time as Fleet Admiral that he reached his peak strength. Sengoku is a user of the Mythical Zoan Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu. He also has all three Haki types, and in his prime, he could even fight the likes of Whitebeard and Roger. He’s certainly a contender for the strongest.
  • Akainu: The current Fleet Admiral, Akainu is very powerful, and he holds the power of the Magu Magu no Mi, a Logia ability that allows him to generate very high offensive power in combat. Akainu also has strong Haki. He’s most definitely gotten stronger over the timeskip, and fans know that he is a contender for the strongest Marine. However, he hasn’t done anything that justifies him standing on the same level as Sengoku and Garp.

  • Garp: By far, the strongest Marine in the history of One Piece is none other than Garp. Fans know him to be renowned in the world as the Hero of the Legends, and his strength is such that he could match even Roger in combat. Garp doesn’t have any Devil Fruit. Yet, his Haki is so powerful that he can level mountains and destroy islands with ease. Garp is a total monster and a fighter worthy of the title of “strongest in history.”
