Eiichiro Oda provided in-depth explanations of both Whitebeard and Marco’s Devil Fruits. While both are powerful, only one can truly be considered the strongest in the One Piece world, and that’s Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi. Although fans already suspected the Gura Gura no Mi was one of the strongest, One Piece Magazine has now officially stated that its power is truly terrifying.

In One Piece Magazine Vol. 20, it’s now officially stated that the Gura Gura no Mi is a power capable of shaking the land, sea, and sky. This means it can create earthquakes felt for miles and instantly generate tsunamis large enough to submerge entire islands. This Devil Fruit brings about natural disasters with the potential to devastate the world, which is a major reason why Whitebeard was considered the strongest man alive. No other Devil Fruit in One Piece even approaches its level of destructive capability, making it truly unique.

Oda also stated that Teach, who currently possesses this power, has completely learned how to use it, and he’s using it flawlessly. While fans haven’t witnessed the full capabilities of Teach with this ability yet, hopefully the next chapters of One Piece’s Final Saga will show us more.
