One Piece: Marines Who Should Join SWORD

One Piece: Marines Who Should Join SWORD

Highlights

  • Joining SWORD can give Marines like Bogard and Tashigi more freedom to pursue their goals outside the strict hierarchy system.
  • Legendary Marine like Sengoku can bring valuable experience and strength to SWORD, potentially making the organization more competent.
  • Characters like Kuzan and Smoker could redeem themselves and make a comeback by joining SWORD, gaining new opportunities for growth.

As a long-time fan of One Piece, I must say that the potential addition of these legendary characters to SWORD would undoubtedly elevate the organization to unparalleled heights. Among them, Sengoku stands out as a seasoned veteran with an impressive track record. His ability to utilize all three types of Haki and his access to the Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit make him an invaluable asset. If only he could be convinced to leave the Marines and join forces with SWORD, the youngsters within the organization would certainly benefit from his wealth of experience.

In the fictional universe of One Piece, the Marines rank among the most powerful and influential organizations. Their main objective is to maintain global tranquility. The Marines are persistently embroiled in a tough battle against pirates and other lawbreakers, with the aim of preventing them from causing chaos and disorder.

Despite the fact that the Marines aren’t without flaws, and their hierarchy system can lead to difficulties at times, a covert organization known as SWORD has arisen to address these issues. Members of the Marines who join SWORD essentially resign, but in return, they are given unprecedented freedom, including the ability to pursue the Yonko. A number of prominent Marines have already joined this group, and there are many more characters who could potentially benefit from enlisting as well.

6 Bogard

Could Potentially Rescue Monkey D. Garp

  • Devil Fruit: None

Accompanying Monkey D. Garp for many years, Bogard serves as his trusted deputy. While details about his combat skills are scant, it’s known that he is an adept swordsman. Unfortunately, much about Bogard’s fighting prowess remains shrouded in mystery.

At first, it wasn’t clear why Bogard would join the organization called SWORD. However, once Garp was seized by the Blackbeard Pirates, his thoughts may have shifted. Since Garp is associated with the Marines, it’s unlikely they will have the means to save him. Given that the Marines wouldn’t dare confront a Yonko head-on, Bogard might find himself joining SWORD as they are more inclined to attempt a rescue mission.

5 Tashigi

Will Get More Freedom That She Needs To Pursue Her Dreams

  • Devil Fruit: None

As a determined gamer character, I, Tashigi, serve as a Marine Captain under Smoker. My aspirations are sky-high – I aim to seize all the graded swords from pirate hands. It’s a daunting mission, but I’ve already made some progress by amassing a few of those coveted blades.

Tashigi hasn’t made any significant accomplishments lately, and it’s crucial for her to boost her existing abilities. Unfortunately, this seems unlikely while she remains in the Marines. Moreover, it appears that the Marines might not be the ideal environment for her to pursue her aspirations.

4 Sengoku

Will Make The Organization More Competent

  • Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu

As a devout admirer, I find myself in awe of Sengoku, one of the rare and timeless characters who have managed to maintain their legend across the ages. Once holding the prestigious title of Fleet Admiral, Sengoku chose to relinquish this position following the Summit War. Despite reaching the venerable age of 79, his influence remains formidable. What sets him apart among the Marines is his mastery over all three forms of Haki, a skill seldom seen in his ranks.

Additionally, he possesses the Hito Hito no Mi, Daibutsu model, a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit which grants him the power to transform into a colossal golden Buddha. Currently, Sengoku is a Marine inspector, but if he were to join SWORD, the organization would significantly increase in power. With his leadership skills and extensive experience, he would be an asset not only to SWORD, but also to the young members within the organization.

3 Kuzan

Could Possibly Be The Leader Of SWORD

  • Devil Fruit: Hie Hie no Mi

As a dedicated admirer, let me share my perspective: Once upon a time-skip, I found myself marveling at the mighty Blackbeard Pirates, and there, among their esteemed ranks, stands Kuzan. You see, he wasn’t tied to any organization before, but when the charismatic Yonko extended an invitation, Kuzan saw an opportunity too good to refuse. And boy, has he proved his worth! The very same Kuzan who once stood against Monkey D. Garp now stands victorious among the Blackbeard Pirates. What a testament to his strength and skill!

Kuzan is skilled at wielding Haki, as shown during his battles with his mentor. Beyond his Haki abilities, he also controls the Devil Fruit known as Hie Hie no Mi, allowing him to freeze anything. Though Kuzan is a pirate, speculations suggest that he could be the head of SWORD, or perhaps he’ll switch allegiances and join them in the future.

It is heavily implied that Kuzan’s departure from the Marines is all part of the ruse.

2 Smoker

Needs To Redeem Himself And Make A Comeback

  • Devil Fruit: Moku Moku no Mi

In the world of “One Piece,” a Marine Vice Admiral, commonly known as Smoker, is a character who frequently appears but isn’t part of the main Straw Hat crew. He first appeared during the East Blue Saga and remained an integral part of the story until the Dressrosa arc. Smoker has a unique ability, the Moku Moku no Mi, which is a Devil Fruit that gives him the power of a Logia-type, allowing him to manipulate smoke at will.

Following a time jump, Smoker too learned to master Haki, yet this skill hasn’t granted him entry into the elite group. It seems his appearances in the story have lessened, but joining the SWORD organization might bring him back into focus. Creator Oda may need to enhance Smoker’s abilities significantly if he wishes to include the Vice Admiral in the Final Arc of One Piece.

1 Fujitora

Will Be Free From Sakazuki’s Constant Nagging

One Piece: Marines Who Should Join SWORD
  • Devil Fruit: Zushi Zushi no Mi

Fujitoro enlisted in the Marines as an Admiral due to the World Military Draft. Remarkably, despite being blind, he achieved such a prominent rank, demonstrating his extraordinary power. His blindness has minimal impact on his combat abilities, primarily because of his exceptional Observation Haki. Moreover, Fujitoro’s strength is amplified by his Zushi Zushi no Mi, a Devil Fruit of the Paramecia class, which gives him the ability to manipulate gravity at will.

Choosing Fujitora to be part of SWORD is ideal because he adheres strongly to ethical principles. Unlike many Marines, Fujitora places less emphasis on the Marine organization’s reputation. Instead, he prioritizes actions that align with his personal moral compass, sometimes finding himself in difficult situations as a result. If Fujitora were to join SWORD, he would be free from repercussions for his actions and the Marines would no longer have the authority to discipline him.
