One Piece: Oda Already Revealed Why Loki Won’t Join The Straw Hat Pirates

Eiichiro Oda often introduces new characters in each major story arc of *One Piece* who become connected to the Straw Hat Pirates. We’ve seen this with characters like Vivi in the Alabasta arc, Carrot in the Zou arc, and continuing through the Wano Country and Egghead arcs.

Throughout the Wano and Egghead arcs, it seemed likely that Yamato and Lilith would become members of the Straw Hat Pirates. But fans of *One Piece* have learned that the author, Oda, doesn’t always add new characters to the crew. Despite this, there’s still a lot of excitement surrounding Loki, who was recently introduced in the Elbaf arc.

Loki Was Introduced In The Elbaf Arc

Loki Has Become A Fan Favorite In A Short Time

Loki’s father, King Harald, was considered Elbaf’s greatest leader. He was known for being kind and was also a powerful warrior, one of the few who could match the strength of Davy D. Xebec. Harald dreamed of transforming Elbaf by opening its borders and creating peace between the Giants and humans, who were often seen as dangerous and harmful. Sadly, he didn’t live to see his vision come true.

The citizens of Elbaf adored Harald, and according to their stories, Loki was punished for killing him. However, Loki doesn’t strike anyone as a patricide, so the Elbafians’ account might not be entirely accurate. It seems likely that Eiichiro Oda will eventually reveal the real story behind Harald’s death after the God Valley flashback concludes.

Even though he’s a relatively new character, One Piece fans are really starting to like Loki. They appreciate his cool design, interesting backstory, unique weapon, and personality. Many have noticed similarities between Loki and Luffy, which has boosted his popularity. As a result, fans are eagerly hoping he’ll become a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Loki Will Ruin The Dynamic Of The Monster Trio

Loki Is Stronger Than Zoro And Sanji

While Loki would be a strong asset to the crew, it’s unlikely he’ll join because he’d disrupt the established dynamic of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji – the ‘Monster Trio.’ This group has been essential to the crew’s success since the beginning, winning key battles and helping them overcome challenges. They’ve been vital to the crew’s progress, especially in reaching the New World, and adding Loki would likely upset that balance.

Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are all strong fighters, but Luffy is clearly the strongest of the three, having defeated powerful opponents like Kaido, Katakuri, Lucci, and Doflamingo. Zoro and Sanji are roughly equal in strength. If Loki were to join the crew, he would immediately be the second-strongest member, surpassed only by Luffy. Although we haven’t seen Loki fight yet, there are hints about his power. It’s said that only Shanks could stop him when he went on a rampage in Elbaf, and since Gaban was also present, Loki was stronger than him.

The fact that the Holy Knights attempted to recruit Loki demonstrates his strength. Shamrock made him an offer, but Loki immediately declined. This shows he’s a powerful fighter capable of challenging even the strongest opponents. If someone of Loki’s caliber were to join the Straw Hat Pirates, it would likely make the Monster Trio obsolete.

The main issue can only be resolved if Zoro and Sanji become significantly stronger than Luffy during the Elbaf arc. But making them that powerful is risky, as it would essentially put them on par with someone like Shanks. If they reached that level, Luffy would also need a huge power boost to remain the strongest, and that’s why a character named Loki won’t be joining Luffy’s crew.
