This article contains spoilers for One Piece‘s Final Arc.
The Elbaf arc of *One Piece* has been fantastic, and the current focus on the Loki flashback is revealing the history of Rocks D. Xebec and other iconic characters from that time. This flashback has been a particularly thrilling part of the arc so far.
Fans of *One Piece* are also eagerly anticipating the major fights between the Straw Hat Pirates and the World Government, which are expected to happen later in the story. Luffy is already aware of Imu and his allies and intends to challenge Imu when he reaches Elbaf’s Sun World. While Luffy isn’t currently powerful enough for that fight, it seems he’s about to unlock a new level of strength, as the author, Oda, has hinted.
Luffy’s Next Power Pertains To Haki

- Conqueror’s Haki Can Injure The Immortals
Currently, Luffy can’t harm powerful, seemingly immortal characters like the Holy Knights, the Five Elders, and Imu. This is because he hasn’t fully mastered Conqueror’s Haki. While Luffy has clashed with the Five Elders, he wasn’t able to inflict any damage, as demonstrated in the recent storyline.
Straw Hat, keep in mind how you use your Haki! — Scopper Gaban
Scopper Gaban recognized Luffy’s Haki and warned him to use it cautiously. He explained that simply releasing Conqueror’s Haki wouldn’t be effective against those who possess immortality.

As a child, I dreamed of creating a manga with an incredibly exciting climax. I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off! Now, after 25 years, we’re nearing the end of the Wano arc and everything is almost ready. You can jump into the story here if you’re new, because from this point on… it’s going to be the culmination of everything – the ONE PIECE! I’m going to reveal all the secrets of this world in the pages to come, and it’s going to be a wild ride! Buckle up, and please stick with me a little longer! – Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022
Luffy needs to improve his Haki skills, hinting at a future power boost. We’ve also seen new ways to use Haki demonstrated by characters like Shanks, Roger, and Rocks, and it’s likely Luffy will learn to use it in a similar way.

Shanks And Roger Could Blast Their Enemies With Haki

The recent Loki series has been highlighting characters like Rocks D. Xebec and Roger. Rocks, in particular, was famous for a powerful ability – he could destroy anything in front of him as if struck by a hammer, despite fighting with a sword. This power seems to be a rare and advanced form of Haki, likely mastered only by a select few.
Currently, only Rocks, Roger, and Shanks have demonstrated this technique. However, Luffy might also be able to learn it in the future. It would be logical for him to master this power and potentially use it to defeat strong opponents like Imu.
Luffy Will Reach Shanks’s Level

After the events on Elbaf, it’s very probable that Luffy will become as powerful as one of the strongest pirates, Red-Haired Shanks. He’s going to meet Shanks soon, and to be a credible opponent, Luffy needs to be at least as strong. A significant boost to his Haki abilities is likely what he’ll receive.
The newest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1163, will be released in two weeks on Sunday, October 26th. While it becomes available in Japan late Sunday night (12 AM JST on Monday), most international fans will be able to read it starting on October 26th. You can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
