This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
One Piece stands out among action-adventure stories for featuring powerful female characters who can compete with the male heroes. Creator Eiichiro Oda has intentionally made sure that both women and men are portrayed as capable and well-developed fighters.
Big Mom is arguably the most impressive female character in *One Piece*, and for good reason. As one of the Four Emperors, she was a truly terrifying figure who inspired fear in anyone who opposed her.
Shirahoshi Is Stronger Than Big Mom
Shirahoshi Is One Of The Ancient Weapons
- Big Mom was one of the Yonko
- Shirahoshi possesses a devastating ability
Big Mom was a well-known figure during the time of Davy D. Xebec, even sailing with him and fighting in the God Valley Incident. When their crew broke up, she started her own and aimed to take over the world, understanding that she’d need significant strength to do so.
Big Mom had a Devil Fruit called the Soru Soru no Mi, which gave her the power to control souls. She could take souls from others and transform them into loyal followers called homies. She even used pieces of her own soul to create incredibly powerful homies like Zeus, Hera, Napoleon, and Prometheus. She could also steal people’s lifespans, and taking too much could instantly kill them.
Being one of the Four Emperors, Big Mom naturally possessed incredibly strong Haki. She could effortlessly knock out thousands with a single burst of her Conqueror’s Haki. She was also exceptionally skilled in both Armament and Observation Haki. These combined abilities made her the most powerful woman in the series, but that’s about to change.
Shirahoshi, first introduced during the Fish-Man Island arc, poses the greatest challenge to Big Mom’s position. It’s been revealed that she is Poseidon, a powerful Ancient Weapon capable of commanding Sea Kings. While she initially had trouble understanding her abilities, Shirahoshi ultimately learned to control these massive creatures.
Given the sheer size and power of Sea Kings, even a single one could easily obliterate a large warship. Shirahoshi can command countless Sea Kings, meaning her potential for destruction is immense. This makes her arguably the strongest character in One Piece, regardless of gender. However, she hasn’t yet gained full control over this ability. While she’s still learning to harness her power effectively, it’s likely she’ll master it during the final arc of the story.
Boa Hancock Is Currently The Strongest Female Character In One Piece
Boa Hancock’s Strength Is Unparalleled
With Big Mom now defeated, Boa Hancock is clearly the most powerful female character in the series. She was once part of the Shichibukai, a group she joined to protect her people, but she didn’t always follow the World Government’s orders.
Boa Hancock’s main power comes from her Devil Fruit, the Mero Mero no Mi. This fruit lets her turn people and objects to stone, but it only works on those who feel lust towards her. The best way to avoid being petrified is to focus on pain, or simply have no attraction to her. Those without such feelings are immune to her powers.
Boa Hancock is incredibly skilled in Haki, a testament to her heritage as a member of the powerful Kuja Tribe, who are famous for their mastery of it. While she hasn’t yet demonstrated the full extent of her abilities, that might change in the upcoming Final Saga. Given the high praise she’s received from strong figures like Sengoku and Blackbeard – and the fact that even a Yonko feared her and tried to avoid her – fans can anticipate great things from Boa Hancock.
