Imu is the head of the World Government and an incredibly powerful figure with a history stretching back to the mysterious Void Century. During that time, Imu was a fierce enemy of Joy Boy, and their conflict sparked a major war. While Joy Boy is often considered the most important figure from that era for opposing Imu, there was another individual who rivaled his influence. In fact, this person was once an even bigger threat to Imu – Davy D. Jones.

- Davy Jones Was Very Influential
I remember Foxy mentioning Davy Jones way back during the Long Ring Long Land Arc, but at the time, it didn’t seem like a big deal. Everything changed with the recent flashback, though. It turns out Davy Jones was a really important figure who sailed the seas during the Void Century. Apparently, he was so influential that the World Government actively tried to wipe all records of him from history.
Despite fading into obscurity, he continued to exist in hidden ways, remembered by only a select few. The cause of his disappearance remains a mystery, but he was clearly a powerful and revered figure – even worshiped by some, including Davy D. Xebec. Xebec eventually revealed his true name and explained why he’d kept it secret: to protect himself and his loved ones.
The Davy Family Was Hunted By The World Government
Davy Clan Is One Of The Many Families Of D Clan
Davy Jones was a pirate who lived around 800 years ago, during a forgotten period known as the Void Century. Legend says he was cursed by a demon and banished to the ocean depths. He became so infamous that people tried to erase his story from history. His family suffered greatly, relentlessly hunted by his enemies until they were forced to change their name to survive. They managed to escape the World Government and lived peacefully in God Valley for many years. However, their secret was eventually discovered by Figarland Garling, leading to the complete destruction of the Davy Clan.

Imu Feared Davy Jones And His Bloodline
The Davy Clan Was Destroyed Without A Trace
Imu, the world’s leader, was deeply afraid of the surviving members of the Davy Clan. They tried relentlessly to eliminate them all, fearing the power of Davy Jones that flowed in their blood. It was an unusually brutal and hateful eradication of a D clan – something rarely seen in the world of One Piece. This extreme reaction demonstrates just how dangerous Imu perceived them to be and how much potential each member held. Even after the massacre, Imu went to great lengths to completely erase the Davy Clan’s history by destroying their entire island, leaving no evidence they ever existed.
Imu is now even more worried, having discovered that Blackbeard is still alive. They recently showed a picture of him, proving Imu harbors a deep resentment. Blackbeard has become incredibly powerful, potentially rivaling the strongest characters in the One Piece world, and like Luffy, he’s also searching for the legendary treasure. He possesses knowledge others don’t, such as the ability to wield the power of two Devil Fruits. Although Davy Jones and his crew were defeated, Blackbeard is determined to continue his family’s legacy.
