One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed A New God Fruit User After Luffy

This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf arc.

The world of *One Piece* already includes gods, and its main character, Monkey D. Luffy, possesses a god-like power himself. Certain rare and powerful Devil Fruits grant users abilities akin to those of the gods, making them exceptionally significant.

I’m absolutely fascinated by the God-level Devil Fruits in *One Piece*! They’re just unbelievably powerful, granting abilities that can make the user nearly unstoppable. And it’s awesome to realize Luffy isn’t the *only* one with this kind of fruit! Oda’s been hinting at other God Fruit users for a while, and he’s already shown us someone even more powerful in the Final Saga – it’s incredible!

Luffy Is The Sun God Nika

  • Luffy Ate The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika
  • His Fruit Awakened In Wano

For years, One Piece fans have speculated about ‘God Fruits,’ but the Wano Country arc truly brought the idea to life. Oda revealed not one, but three of these incredibly powerful Devil Fruits. While surprising, it’s accurate! The first God Fruit revealed was Luffy’s, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. The truth about this fruit came out in chapter 1044 of One Piece, after Luffy seemingly returned from death and awakened his powers. This fruit allows Luffy to transform into the Warrior of Liberation, essentially becoming the Sun God Nika.

During the Wano Arc, we learned about several Devil Fruits. Yamato possesses the Okuchi no Makami, which lets them transform into a wolf deity sworn to protect Wano. Kaido, meanwhile, can become an Eastern Dragon – so powerful that many considered him a Dragon God and even worshipped him as such within Wano.

As a child, I dreamed of creating a manga with an incredibly exciting climax. I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off! Now, after 25 years, we’re nearing the end of the Wano arc and everything is set. You can jump into the story here if you’d like, because from this point forward… it’s the grand adventure of ONE PIECE! I’m going to reveal all the secrets of this world – it’s going to be a thrilling ride! Buckle up and stick with me a little longer! – Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022

Imu Is The User Of A God Devil Fruit As Well

Imu Likely Has The Power Of The Earth God

Although many characters in One Piece are incredibly powerful, Imu is likely the strongest God Fruit user. When Imu arrived in Elbaf, they clearly demonstrated godly abilities, giving fans a brief but shocking look at their true strength. Imu wields what’s known as the Power of Evil, which allows them to perform seemingly impossible feats, including turning people into demon slaves, granting immortality and super strength, and summoning weapons, among other things.

Everything we’re seeing is likely due to Imu’s Devil Fruit power. While Eiichiro Oda hasn’t revealed the fruit’s name yet, it’s clear Imu can transform into a massive creature, possibly a dragon or serpent, and can also consume fire. We’ll likely find out more details in the future.

There Are More God Fruits In One Piece

As we head into the final arc of the story, it’s becoming clear that Luffy and Imu aren’t the only powerful characters with these ‘God Fruits.’ We already know Luffy embodies the Sun God, and Imu is probably the Earth God, but Oda has hinted at others – like a Rain God, a Forest God, and a Sea God – and even more powers that fans haven’t figured out yet. It seems like there’s a whole pantheon of these gods appearing, not just Luffy and Imu.

I’m looking forward to the next One Piece chapter – number 1161 – which is scheduled to be released in two weeks. Like always, it’ll come out on a Sunday. For those in Japan, that means it will be available at 12 AM JST on Monday, September 28th, 2025. And the good news is, fans around the world can read it for free on Manga Plus.
