One Piece: Oda Has Already Revealed The Next Big Death In The Series, And It’s A Fan Favourite Character

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

As an observer, I find myself immersed in the Elbaf arc of One Piece, a prelude to what seems to be an impending great war, according to creator Oda. This current storyline, undeniably expansive, promises to grow even larger as it unfolds. However, it’s not the most extensive arc in the series thus far. Typically, One Piece’s narratives escalate in intensity as the story progresses, and the Final Saga is no exception.

In the upcoming storyline of One Piece, the scale and tension will outdo even the colossal land of Elbaf. Given that the fate of a significant character is at risk, it seems the series might soon bid farewell to one of its beloved figures.

One Piece’s Next Big Death Could Be Garp

  • Garp Was Captured By The Blackbeard Pirates
  • Blackbeard War Is Inevitable At This Point

In the commencement of Oda’s Final Saga, it was evident to all viewers that the Straw Hat Pirates wouldn’t be the sole focus. Instead, Oda indicated that numerous significant side characters, including those from the Revolutionary Army, Blackbeard Pirates, Red Hair Pirates, Cross Guild, Marines, and Holy Knights, would also receive considerable attention in this saga. Consequently, various events are unfolding concurrently within this storyline.

Instead, it wasn’t as simple as you might think. Having me involved didn’t make the task easier. It was a collective effort among us all that ultimately led to the downfall of Garp.

In Egghead, viewers momentarily shifted their focus from the Straw Hats, and during this time, they witnessed Garp launching an attack on Pirate Island to rescue Koby. Indeed, he managed to free Koby and safeguard those who accompanied him, but unfortunately, he was stranded afterwards. Currently, Garp is associated with the Blackbeard Pirates, and it’s been openly stated by the Yonko what his intentions are for Garp.

Blackbeard aims to barter Garp for his aspiration of establishing a recognized nation, where he would serve as its king. In return, he promises to return the Legendary Hero to the Marines. However, the Marines can’t discard their most celebrated hero in history, so they are left with no choice but to act, while at the same time, they can’t yield to a pirate’s demands. The only course seems to be total conflict.

Garp And Ace Have Many Parallels

  • Ace Led To War In The First Half of One Piece
  • Garp Will Lead To War In The Second Half

Ace and Garp share a common experience as they were both previously held captive by Blackbeard. In the past, Blackbeard utilized Ace to gain the title of Shichibukai and ultimately aim for Whitebeard’s throne. This time, it appears that Blackbeard intends to exploit Garp in a similar manner. It’s worth noting that on both occasions, someone close to Luffy was involved in these events.

Ace, why didn’t you live like I told you to? — Garp to Ace

Previously, Ace initiated the largest conflict we’ve seen lately, and this time it seems like Garp will take the lead. As the War was held at the Marine Headquarters in the past, this time it looks like the battlefield will be the Pirate Island known as Hachinosu.

Garp Might Die In One Piece

Absolutely, prominent figures will play key roles in the Pirate Island Conflict. The Blackbeard Pirates are set to clash with the Marines, while it seems probable that the Cross Guild will join the fray too. Luffy isn’t likely to abandon Garp and will stand by his side during the battle. However, if Eiichiro Oda sticks to the similarity between Garp and Ace, then Garp might meet his end, potentially leading to a new generation of Marines emerging – a development that aligns with his wishes.
