One Piece: Oda Has Not Introduced A Character Stronger Than Kaido, & Here’s Why

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

One Piece boasts an array of incredibly powerful anime characters, from those able to manipulate light to bestowing immortality upon others. Without a doubt, there is an abundance of strong personalities within this popular series, with its creator Eiichiro Oda taking care to prevent an influx of overly powerful characters in quick succession.

Right now, the storyline revolves around the Elbaf saga, featuring several remarkable characters boasting extraordinary abilities. But so far, creator Eiichiro Oda hasn’t unveiled any figure surpassing Kaido in strength.

Kaido Is Underrated By Some One Piece Fans

Kaido Is By Far The Strongest Creature In One Piece

  • Kaido has better feats than most characters
  • He has been called the strongest repeatedly by other pirates

Kaido, often referred to as the “most powerful being on Earth,” is acknowledged as surpassing others in strength significantly. Upon his introduction, he was labeled as the most powerful by the narrator and has been recognized as such by other notable figures. There’s a chapter that substantiates the assertion that Kaido is indeed the strongest creature in existence.

Fans often underestimate Kaido’s power due to how his fight against Luffy transpired. However, it’s crucial to keep in mind some significant aspects. Primarily, Kaido’s defeat was largely due to his overconfidence. He believed that the Supernovas, including Luffy, were insignificant adversaries for him. Consequently, he chose to play around with them rather than engaging in a genuine battle.

To further elaborate, it’s important to note that Kaido rarely engaged in solo battles against Luffy. Instead, he faced off against a formidable group consisting of the Scabbards, Yamato, Momonosuke, Kid, Zoro, Law, and Luffy himself. This multi-front confrontation undeniably drains one’s energy, and Kaido is no exception. However, it’s also crucial to acknowledge that while battling this diverse group, Kaido was simultaneously sustaining the floating island of Onigashima with his immense power.

In summary, it took Oda a significant boost in power for Luffy to stand a chance against Kaido. Throughout most of the arc, Luffy was stronger than the top-tier Yonko Commander, but when facing Kaido, he reached the level of a Yonko. It’s essential to recall that Luffy fought and lost to Kaido multiple times before ultimately defeating him in combat.

Oda Has Not Introduced Anyone Stronger Than Kaido

Following the end of the Wano Country saga, Oda introduced figures such as the Gorosei, the Holy Knights, Scopper Gaban, and Loki, yet none of these characters surpass Kaido in terms of raw power. While they possess formidable abilities, a one-on-one encounter would not result in their victory over Kaido.

Scopper Gaban is clearly past his best, and he himself confessed that his inability to visit Wano was due to Kaido’s presence. The might of Loki remains unclear, but it’s certain that he isn’t on par with a Yonko. The Holy Knights exhibit varying degrees of power, with some surpassing the Admirals, and a few potentially approaching Yonko strength. Given the circumstances, the Gorosei seem like a sensible choice, as they appear to have been cautious around Kaido. This menacing figure is known to possess a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, enabling him to transform into an Azure Dragon at will. Additionally, Kaido wields all three types of Haki, using them skillfully without any hindrance.

Kaido Deserves To Be Respected Like Roger, Whitebeard, Shanks, And Rocks

Kaido Is The Strongest Pirate Of His Era

Given his extraordinary abilities, there’s no doubt that Kaido deserves even more recognition and respect. While characters from previous generations were undeniably powerful, they weren’t invulnerable by any stretch of the imagination. Yet, they are consistently given a lot of respect by fans. It’s high time that Kaido is spoken about in the same context. Fans may continue to argue over who is stronger, but one thing remains clear: Kaido belongs in the same league as them.

It may not be the way of the times anymore… but death is what truly completes a person! —Kaido

It’s also worth considering that Kaido and Big Mom may still contribute to the climactic events of One Piece, since their deaths have not been definitively confirmed. Both of them suffered defeats at the hands of Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid respectively, but their potential future involvement is uncertain. Fans should remain open to the possibility that they might reappear in some capacity.
