One Piece: Oda Hints At A Traitor Among The Rocks Pirates

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

In the fictional world of One Piece, the Rocks Pirates, led by the enigmatic Rocks D. Xebec, are considered among the most formidable pirate crews ever, arguably even the best. Their rise to notoriety was swift and soon they were feared across the globe. Under their captain’s guidance, the crew made waves that echoed around the world. However, after the God Valley Incident, the Rocks Pirates met their match and their story came to an abrupt end, although the details of their defeat remain uncertain.

Silver Axe Could Be The Traitor Among The Rocks Pirates

Silver Axe Has Some Similarities With A Couple Of Marines

In the thrilling latest chapter of One Piece, I was utterly captivated by the long-awaited debut of none other than Silver Axe! Though his name had been dropped numerous times before, it wasn’t until the Elbaf arc that we finally got a glimpse of this legendary pirate. Just like many other formidable sea rovers of that era, I found myself spellbound by the sheer power and allure of the Rocks Pirates – so much so that I couldn’t help but wonder if Silver Axe shared my sentiments and sought to align himself with them.

At first glance, his decision to join their crew might seem like a natural progression, but there’s an intriguing possibility that he may have ulterior motives – perhaps even intending to bring the Rocks Pirates down from within! The anticipation is palpable as we delve deeper into this captivating storyline.

I want to join the Rocks Pirates. —Silver Axe

In just one chapter, the character hasn’t been extensively featured, making it challenging to establish his role in the downfall of the Rocks Pirates. Nevertheless, there are two factors that make him seem suspicious: his distinctive tattoo resembling Akainu’s and the X-shaped mark on his chain. While a tattoo alone may not solidify a connection, given Oda’s storytelling style, it’s worth considering it as a potential clue rather than ignoring it entirely.

The second thing that stirs curiosity is a striking resemblance between Silver Axe’s chin and X-Drake’s, as they both bear an identical X-shaped mark. This similarity has sparked intense debate among some, suggesting that Silver Axe could be X-Drake’s grandson. If there is a connection between them, it would make sense why Silver Axe might have betrayed the Rocks Pirates, given X-Drake’s past actions with Kaido and the Beasts Pirates. While X-Drake once held the rank of Marine Rear Admiral, he later pretended to be a Supernova to deceive the world. He joined forces with Kaido and leaked confidential information to his fellow SWORD members. If Silver Axe followed a similar path by joining the Rocks Pirates for ulterior motives, it could account for the disintegration of the crew during God Valley.

The Rocks Pirates Would Have Ruled The World For Years

The Rocks Pirates Were Truly Dangerous

In their time, the Pirates of Rocks were undeniably the most formidable crew, aiming to overthrow the ruling World Government. Rocks had previously encountered Imu within the Chamber of Flowers and hinted at his return with malicious intentions. It’s clear that Rocks sought to eliminate Imu and his followers, prompting them to take precautions against this impending pirate threat.

When Rocks crossed paths with Imu, he came to understand that conquering the world was a task beyond his capabilities as a solitary figure. Consequently, the pirate set about enlisting fresh recruits. In numerous Davy Black skirmishes, Rocks D. Xebec sought and found potential crew members. Over time, he amassed an impressive team, which featured the following individuals:

  • Whitebeard
  • Shiki
  • Silver Axe
  • Captain John
  • Big Mom
  • Struesen
  • Wang Zhi
  • Buckingham Stussy
  • Don Marlon
  • Kaido
  • Gloriosa
  • Barbel

With so many powerful allies, Rocks would have absolutely no problems decimating his competition.

The God Valley Incident Affected The Future Of The World

The God Valley Incident represented an unlucky turn of events that ultimately benefited the World Government. Initially, the Rocks Pirates would have never imagined losing ground, as no other crew was believed capable of challenging them. Regrettably for the Rocks Pirates, they encountered a formidable alliance between the Roger and Marine crews who joined forces to defeat them. In light of the common threat posed by Rocks, both Roger and Garp chose to temporarily put aside their disagreements, viewing him as a mutual adversary.

Although the specifics are yet to be revealed, it’s been established that Rocks met his end during the God Valley Incident. As Oda unveils fresh details, fans will gain a clearer understanding of what transpired in God Valley. Fingers crossed, the wait won’t be too long as the flashback delves into Rocks’ past history.
