One Piece: Oda Reveals The Creator Of Devil Fruits From Void Century

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.

One of the most fascinating elements in the world of “One Piece” is the enigmatic nature of the Devil Fruits. These magical artifacts are well-known among fans as a crucial part of the series, serving as its primary source of power. By consuming a Devil Fruit, one loses the ability to swim, but in exchange, gains an extraordinary and diverse range of abilities.

In the world of “One Piece,” Devil Fruits have been a part of the story since its inception, with Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Mi making its debut in the very first chapter. Yet, these powerful fruits didn’t always exist. The creator of the Devil Fruits has been unveiled by Oda, along with their origin, and it is connected to the Forest God and the era known as the Void Century.

  • The First Devil Fruit Was Born In The Void Century

The fascinating backstory and details of the One Piece universe are simply captivating. For instance, during the Void Century, many crucial mysteries were kept under wraps by Oda, such as the existence of the D. Clan, the Ancient Weapons, and crucially, the enigmatic Ancient Kingdom itself. The Egghead arc in One Piece was pivotal to its world lore as it delved into the tale of the Sun God Nika and provided fans with valuable insights into the events that transpired during the Void Century.

The Forest God sent forth Demons! — Harley Texts

In the grand unfolding of chapter 1037, I bore witness to an intriguing arc that delved deeper still, unveiling the long-held secret known as the World Myth, or Harley, to the enthusiastic audience. It was none other than Oda who skillfully pulled back the veil, revealing not just one, but three distinct worlds, even shedding light on the enigmatic Void Century. To the astonishment of many, Devil Fruits made their appearance here too, with Oda hinting at their inception – when and by whom they were first brought into being.

In the world known as the Second World of One Piece, it is explicitly mentioned in the Harley text that the Devil Fruits were crafted by none other than the Forest Deity. It was this Forest Deity who dispatched demons for the first time, implying that the Devil Fruits originated in the Second World. The Forest Deity created one and subsequently sent forth an army. At this moment, the Devil Fruits came into being.

The Identity Of The Forest God In One Piece

The Forest God Was Likely Someone With Great Scientific Prowess

Regarding the identity of the Forest God, it remains a mystery among fans. However, Oda has dropped some significant clues about him. According to Oda’s revelations, Devil Fruits are the manifestation of human desires that were conjured up by people in the past and brought into existence through strong desire. It appears that science played a crucial role in the creation of Devil Fruits, as well as in the process of transforming desires into reality.

In much the same way that Vegapunk developed artificial Devil Fruits through his technological prowess, it’s possible that during the Void Century, people learned to cultivate Devil Fruits by tapping into dreams. These dreams may have brought forth fruits on trees within a forest, and the individual responsible for this phenomenon, who was likely a scientist, was revered as the Forest Deity.
