This part of the manga isn’t just packed with action; it’s also expanding the series’ history and mythology. Oda has revealed significant details about the Void Century through characters like Rocks D. Xebec and Imu, including information about the former World King, Davy D. Jones.

The recent revelations, along with information from Egghead, strongly suggest what Blackbeard is ultimately aiming for: to become the new ruler of the world and carry out the Will of Davy. This means he’ll likely have to defeat Imu, potentially establishing Blackbeard as the final villain in the One Piece story.

Jones was the King of the World, but somehow, he was overthrown and replaced by Imu, potentially during or even before the events of the Void Century.

Following the events of the past, some of Davy D. Jones’s family members have been trying to regain control. Rocks D. Xebec attempted this, but he died at God Valley. Now, Blackbeard is determined to carry out Davy’s plan and become the next ruler. The recent events on Egghead have confirmed Blackbeard’s ambitions – he wants to be King, just like Rocks, and this backstory makes his goals clear.

Imu Has To Fall For Blackbeard To Become King

Before Imu appeared, most fans thought Blackbeard would be the ultimate villain in One Piece. Now that Imu is in the story, opinions are divided. Imu is currently the strongest character, and clues suggest a final showdown with them. However, many still believe Blackbeard could ultimately be the series’ final villain.

Ultimately, Imu needs to be defeated before anyone can become the ‘King of the World’. Once that happens, Blackbeard will be able to reach his peak power and become the ultimate enemy in the One Piece story. Because of this, Luffy and his crew must stop Blackbeard from causing destruction and taking Imu’s place, meaning he’ll also have to be defeated.
