The ongoing Elbaf arc of the One Piece manga keeps astonishing fans with one major revelation after another, and chapter 1136 was no exception. This chapter was thrilling from start to finish, offering intriguing insights into the gods of the One Piece universe, past destructions, and hinting at future developments in the Elbaf arc.
Of all the information Oda shared with fans in One Piece chapter 1136, the backstory on the Destroyer God was arguably the most thrilling. Although some viewers might have underestimated its importance, it could potentially play a crucial role in the final story arc. This is because it not only influences a particular character’s development, but also sets the stage for the impending Great War.
The God of Destruction And Nika
- Niak Is Believed To Be The God of Liberation By Some And God Of Destruction By Others
- The Sun God Always Shows Up When The World Is Destroyed
In the intricate tapestry of One Piece, the Sun God stands as a mysterious figure. Fans have only gleaned fragments of knowledge regarding him, primarily from the Wano Country, Egghead, and Elbaf story arcs. Although references to the Sun God surfaced earlier in the Skypiea arc, it was not until Wano that his significance began to unfold. Here, we learned that the Sun God Nika was a cherished deity who appeared during times of distress for oppressed slaves. Known for his booming laughter, Nika liberates enslaved people wherever he goes, bringing happiness and mirth with him. His laugh is said to be infectious. Interestingly, Nika wields power using a rubbery body, the only constraint being his own imagination, making his abilities seem absurdly powerful in the grand scheme of the world. There are certain aspects about Nika that remain contentious among the inhabitants of this world.
In the entire world, it is believed to be the most ridiculous power of all! — Five Elders
Nika, a well-regarded figure, holds special significance among the Giants, considering he’s one of them and hails from Elbaf. It’s not shocking that they have extensive knowledge about him. In their ancient chronicles, known as the Harley, there is a text detailing past events. This text is so old that it’s difficult to translate accurately. Different versions of this text exist, each with its own interpretation. The scripture suggests that the world of One Piece has been obliterated twice in the past. Each time the world was destroyed, the arrival of the Sun God Nika was also noted. This is where the conundrum lies. Nika appears to be associated with the destruction of each world. However, this raises questions about his role.
In different interpretations, Nika is seen either as a Deity of Salvation who combats the annihilation of the world and rescues people in the process, aligning more with the beliefs of the Buccaneers. Conversely, others view Nika as a God of Destruction and Death. Due to the age and unreadability of the scriptures, it’s uncertain what the truth is. However, Nika is portrayed as both a savior and a destroyer, which also mirrors Vegapunk’s assertions in Egghead. According to Vegapunk, determining whether Joy Boy was benevolent or malevolent was challenging because, despite fighting against a partnership that erased history and exterminated races, he still possessed three weapons capable of obliterating the world and intended to pass them down to future generations.
It’s clear from the information given thus far that Nika presents a complex persona, contrary to the prior belief that she is a Warrior of Liberation. This is where things become intriguing indeed.
Why Nika Might Also Exist As A God Of Destruction
Nika Could Exist In Two Different Forms
In the colossal realm of Elbaf, Nika stands as a highly influential character, so much that every titan aspires to emulate Nika. A being named Road considers himself the Solar Deity, while Loki boasts about being “The Destroyer Sun God.” Though Road’s claims are just wishful thinking, Loki’s assertion is intriguing and has some basis in reality. Unlike Road, who desires to be like the sun god, Loki isn’t merely pretending to be a Sun God; his situation is special, as there seems to be substance to support his claim.
Whether Nika is a God of Destruction or a God of Liberation is something nobody knows.— Jarul
In simpler terms, it is believed that Loki ingested a powerful Devil Fruit, which has been traditionally possessed by the Elbaf royal family and may have ties to Nika. The narrative suggests that Loki killed Harald and seized this fruit, although its authenticity remains questionable. Nonetheless, what’s clear is that Loki consumed the fruit, and Harald met his end. Loki demonstrated an immense amount of power, requiring the combined efforts of Elbaf to subdue him and imprison him. Later on, Loki ventured out to sea, but it was Shanks who managed to overpower him, capture him, and return him home.
Eating a Legendary Devil Fruit grants Loki unusual abilities that could potentially make him the Sun Deity, as some from Elbaf even support this claim, believing he has the power to annihilate the world. This is surprising given that the Giants know the Sun God undergoes an all-white Nika transformation. However, if Loki doesn’t possess a similar power, it seems the Giants and Loki himself have made a big misunderstanding. But then again, one might ask, how can Loki be the Sun Deity when Luffy is already Nika, the Liberator of Warriors? The solution may lie in the unique way Devil Fruits are created.
How the Two Nika Fruits Could’ve Been Created
The Devil Fruits Are Born From The Wishes Of People
Previously, in November, we proposed the concept that the Nika fruit usually comes in pairs. This theory appears to hold more weight than ever. It’s possible that there are two Nika Devil Fruits, and possibly even two Sun Gods. Originally, it’s believed that there was only one Sun God, but due to misinterpretations and distortions of the Nika legend, it’s plausible that there could be two Nika Devil Fruits. This can be understood by examining the origins of Devil Fruits. Vegapunk stated that Devil Fruits represent an alternate pathway in human evolution, stemming from our desires and wishes. Therefore, the Nika fruit, symbolizing liberation, is a manifestation of someone desiring it to be real for their freedom.
People who thought Nika was the God of Liberation might have created the Hito Hito no Mi, with its Nika model. However, there are many others who see Nika as a God of Destruction, and their wishes could have given rise to a different type of Devil Fruit, one that embodies destruction and laughter. While Luffy consumed the liberation version, the destructive version might have been consumed by Loki instead.
