Summary
- Powerful pirates in One Piece often serve multiple crews, showcasing interesting stories and strength.
- Notable examples include Shiki, Buggy, and Jinbe, who transitioned between crews before establishing their own.
- Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Ace also served in different crews, each leaving a significant impact on the world.
In the realm of One Piece, an abundance of extraordinarily potent pirates thrive. While certain pirates remain steadfast with a single crew, others exhibit a chameleon-like behavior, sailing with various crews under different captains. Additionally, there are those who receive guidance from one pirate and ultimately establish their own crews.
In the realm of “One Piece”, it’s common to find pirates who’ve sailed with numerous crews. These folks, on many occasions, are intriguing characters, boasting captivating tales and possessing extraordinary might.
10. Shiki
Crews Served: Rocks Pirates, Golden Lion Pirates

In the vast world of One Piece, Shiki stands among the most formidable pirates who’ve ever set sail. His strength was such that he was seen as a potential contender for the title once held by the Pirate King, Roger himself. At some point in time, Shiki sailed alongside the Roger Pirates.
Following the letdown at The Rocks, Shiki formed his very own team, known as the Golden Lion Pirates. At a certain juncture, they boasted the most formidable fleet in the vast expanse of the Grand Line.
9. Buggy

- Crews Served: Roger Pirates, Buggy Pirates
On Roger’s vessel, Buggy learned the ropes, becoming an integral part of the Roger Pirates. Following Roger’s execution, Buggy ventured independently and established his own pirate crew, known as the Buggy Pirates. For a significant period, they maintained a base in the East Blue. However, eventually, he returned to the Grand Line and now ranks among the Four Sea Emperors.
8. Shanks

- Crews Served: Roger Pirates, Red Hair Pirates
As an ardent fan, let me share some fascinating insights! Shanks isn’t just any ordinary Sea Lord among the Yonko; he’s the fearless captain of the Red Hair Pirates. But here’s a fun fact that you might not know: Shanks wasn’t always sailing with the Red Hair Pirate Crew. In fact, his maritime journey began elsewhere! Prior to leading his current crew, Shanks was a valued member and apprentice to the legendary Roger Pirates!
Many thought Shanks was destined to become the Pirate King, but it’s speculated that Roger entrusted him with a mission of greater significance instead.
7. Jinbe
- Crews Served: Sun Pirates, Straw Hat Pirates
Jinbe, often known as “The First Son of the Sea,” is an immensely powerful pirate who commands respect throughout the vast New World. Initially serving under Fisher Tiger within the Sun Pirates crew, he later ascended to the position of captain. Over time, he formed an alliance with Whitebeard.
Jinbe, also called “The First Son of the Sea,” is a super strong pirate who’s admired in many places across the New World. He was once part of Fisher Tiger’s Sun Pirates crew but eventually took over as captain. Later on, he teamed up with Whitebeard.
Following the demise of the Yonko, he formed an alliance with Big Mom, ultimately choosing to abandon his Sun Pirates and join forces with the Straw Hat Pirates instead.
6. Blackbeard
- Crews Served: Whitebeard Pirates, Blackbeard Pirates
As a young orphan, Blackbeard found himself under the care of Whitebeard, who welcomed him into his large family and brought up several sons together with him. For many years, Blackbeard was part of the Whitebeard pirate crew until his hidden ambition eventually emerged.
Initially loyal to Whitebeard, Blackbeard later turned traitor, forming his own pirate crew known as the Blackbeard Pirates. He ultimately seized all his father’s possessions. Presently, in the New World, Blackbeard wields immense power, standing among the strongest Pirates.
5. Kaido

- Crews Served: Rocks Pirates, Beast Pirates
Similar to several others featured here, Kaido once belonged to the Rocks Pirates. This infamous group played a significant role in shaping Kaido into an exceptionally formidable pirate. Over time, he further honed his abilities in the Grand Line and eventually founded his own team, known as the Beast Pirates.
He gazed towards the New World and established a fortress in Wano, where he reigned for several decades. However, Luffy eventually brought about its demise.
4. Whitebeard

- Crews Served: Rocks Pirates, Whitebeard Pirates
Known for his immense power, Whitebeard, or so it’s said, is the strongest being on earth among all pirates. As captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, he struck terror even among the Yonko. It’s thought that he was the sole pirate capable of matching Roger in a fight. However, prior to leading his own crew, Whitebeard himself was once a part of the Rocks Pirate Crew.
3. Big Mom
- Crews Served: Rocks Pirates, Big Mom Pirates
At a tender age, Charlotte Linlin, famously recognized as Big Mom, embarked on a pirating journey alongside Rocks. Her strength was immense, and following the downfall of Rocks, she established her own pirate band.
Over the years, I’ve found myself captivated by the formidable Big Mom’s crew, primarily made up of her own kin. They’ve built an ironclad empire across various territories in the New World, a dominion so vast it seemed unconquerable… until the dynamic duo of Kid and Law emerged victorious, toppling their reign!
2. Ace
- Crews Served: Spade Pirates, Whitebeard Pirates
Luffy’s brother, Ace, has been part of not one but two separate crews. He initially established the Spade Pirates upon embarking on the sea. Over time, though, these pirates merged with the Whitebeard Pirates, where Ace found a second family.
In the end, Ace ascended to the position of the Second-in-Command within the Whitebeard Pirates’ crew, taking over the vacancy previously held by Oden. Regrettably, during the great conflict known as the Paramount War, Ace met his unfortunate demise.
1. Oden
- Crews Served: Whitebeard Pirates, Roger Pirates
Originally from the realm of Wano, Kozuki Oden yearned to explore beyond its borders all his life. Consequently, he chose the sea-faring life of a pirate. Upon arrival of the Whitebeard Pirates in the land of the Samurai, Oden swiftly joined their ranks. Over the years, he not only remained with the Whitebeard Pirates but also forged a brotherhood with their captain, Newgate.
Upon Roger’s arrival, Oden sought Whitebeard’s permission to join Roger’s pirate band, thus making it his second such group. Following this, he returned to Wano with a clear purpose in mind. In Wano, the Nine Red Scabbards served as his personal crew. Despite his demise, Oden left an unparalleled legacy behind.
