As a long-time fan of One Piece, I have to say that Sabo is one of my favorite characters in the series. His journey from being a pirate to becoming a revolutionary leader has been nothing short of captivating. And now, with his infamy surpassing even Dragon’s, it’s clear that Oda has big plans for him.
This article contains spoilers from the Elbaf Arc of One Piece
Key Takeaways
- Sabo can fight an admiral, showcasing his impressive strength.
- Sabo’s full strength remains unknown, making it difficult to scale.
- Sabo needs Conqueror’s Haki to stand against the Yonko, hinting at future power-ups.
Sabo plays a significant role in the Final Saga of “One Piece,” serving as the Chief of Staff for the Revolutionary Army, which has become a focal point of a significant conflict. Given his influential position, it’s anticipated that his influence in future storylines will be substantial. It’s also evident that Sabo is among the strongest characters fans have encountered within the series. However, due to limited attention paid to this character and the Revolutionary Army as a whole, much about his true abilities remains unknown to fans.
It’s clear that fans agree Sabo’s power doesn’t match up with the mighty Yonko in the One Piece world right now, but there’s a strong possibility he’ll acquire new abilities that could propel him to their level in no time.
Sabo’s Current Power Level Is Very Impressive For A Chief Of Staff
- Sabo Can Fight An Admiral
- Sabo’s Full Strength Remains Unknown
It’s challenging to accurately gauge Sabo’s true strength in One Piece, as fans have only seen him in a few fights, none of which showed him fully exerting himself. Often, fans make assumptions about characters based on their bounties. Initially, Sabo’s bounty was 602 million berries, which was quite significant at the time. However, considering today’s standards where many characters have bounties close to 3 or 4 billion, 602 million seems rather insignificant and doesn’t reflect his true abilities. With that in mind, it’s reasonable to assume that Sabo has received a new bounty by now, and it’s likely to be in the billions. So, his old bounty should be disregarded as it doesn’t accurately represent his current power level.
I’ve had enough regrets! – Sabo
After the time skip in One Piece, viewers have witnessed Luffy participating in various skirmishes. In the arc of Dressrosa, fans were introduced to Sabo for the first time, where he engaged in battles against opponents like Jesus Burgess. While Burgess isn’t at Emperor level, Sabo easily overpowered him, demonstrating his considerable strength. Furthermore, Sabo acquired the highly potent Logia Mera Mera no Mi, which grants him the ability to manipulate and transform into flames. Since then, he has diligently honed this power, with Oda mentioning that he trains it every day. As a result of his relentless training with the powers of this Devil Fruit, Sabo has developed proficiency in controlling it and has grown adept at its capabilities.
During the Dressrosa storyline, Sabo engaged in a formidable battle with Admiral Fujitora, a character renowned for his immense power throughout the series. Remarkably, their fight was fairly balanced, yet it’s crucial to note that both characters were essentially stalling. While neither was giving their full strength, it leaves us wondering how the outcome might have been different if they had fought in earnest.
One clear demonstration of Sabo’s formidable power is his ability to approach the Five Elders in Marijoa undetected and fire a potent Hiken at them, with a swift Rook Check aimed specifically at Imu. Although the Elders appeared to be harmed by this assault, they possess the capability to heal instantly, as demonstrated during the Egghead Arc. In reality, they sustained no injuries, while Imu absorbed Sabo’s flames. Remarkably, despite being struck by a lethal attack from Imu, Sabo managed to remain standing.
Sabo’s Haki Power Is Immense
It’s evident that Sabo has significantly improved his control over his Devil Fruit abilities. Moreover, it’s well-known among fans that he is proficient in Haki, particularly the Color of Arms haki, which sets him apart in the world of One Piece. Remarkably, his Observation haki also appears to be exceptional.
However, even with all his powers, it’s clear they don’t measure up to those held by a ruler of an Empire’s stature.
Why Two Major Power-Ups Are Close For Sabo
Sabo Needs Conqueror’s Haki To Be A Serious Threat
It’s possible fans might question why Sabo requires a power-up given his current strength. However, it’s essential to remember that Oda has designed Sabo as a character who is consistently expanding his power and influence in the world. Lately, Sabo was celebrated as a hero after King Cobra’s demise; though he didn’t cause it, people perceived him that way. As a result, Sabo gained the nickname “Flame Emperor,” suggesting that he holds some imperial status.
I don’t mind taking the blame if it fans the flames of revolution! – Sabo
In addition, the narrative makes it abundantly clear that Sabo’s notoriety has eclipsed even Dragon’s, a fact that many fans seem to overlook. This significant development suggests that his bounty is likely to be extremely high. Given his actions and the fact he’s become a symbol of hope for the masses, Oda has deliberately emphasized Sabo, indicating there will be a substantial payoff. The way Sabo is being depicted implies that he’ll soon acquire significant powers.
It’s likely that fans won’t be taken aback when Sabo starts using Conqueror’s Haki, given his titles as the Flame Emperor and Dragon’s Number Two. This power is often found in individuals who are determined to rise to the top and possess an unyielding spirit, traits that Sabo clearly embodies. Since both Luffy and Ace have mastered Conqueror’s Haki, it seems reasonable that Sabo, too, will acquire this ability at some point. It’s possible that he already has and has been keeping it a secret, or he may develop it in the future. Either way, author Oda would not likely leave Sabo without this significant power.
Regardless of the path he takes, fans can expect Sabo to employ this power during the Final Saga, and possibly its advanced version as well since the standard form holds no advantage for him currently. Considering all his abilities, Sabo is a fitting character to engage in battles with the Yonko.
Fans are aware that Sabo has obtained a Devil Fruit, and there’s speculation that he might soon activate it, as he’s been intensely training to master its use. While it usually takes years for some people to awaken their Devil Fruits, exceptional individuals like Sabo may do so more quickly. For example, Kaku consumed his Devil Fruit during the Enies Lobby Arc and managed to awaken it by the timeskip. Given Sabo’s prodigious talent, he might even be capable of activating the Mera Mera no Mi in a shorter timeframe than Kaku.
