As One Piece‘s Final War approaches swiftly, it’s evident that the main characters, particularly the Straw Hat pirates, must significantly increase their strength. To confront Imu and the military might of the World Government, they should surpass even the legendary Roger Pirates’ level, as destiny has selected Luffy and his comrades to usher in a new era for the world.
To achieve their goal, the Straw Hat pirates must rise to become the most formidable pirate crew ever recorded in the annals of One Piece, surpassing even legendary crews like the Roger Pirates, Rocks Pirates, and Joyboy’s crew who couldn’t overthrow the World Government. Despite this daunting challenge, the Straw Hats are uniquely positioned to achieve this feat. Among them, Luffy’s trusted companion Vinsmoke Sanji may hold the crucial role in their success, so let’s explore why that might be.
Sanji May Be The Secret When It Comes To Winning Against Imu
The Left Wing of the Pirate King

Since Sanji became a part of the Straw Hats, the balance within the team has significantly improved. His natural prowess and the competitive spirit he shares with Zoro drive them both to strive for their peak potential. Sanji is indispensable in the crew not only because of his role but also due to his immense power.
I firmly believe that Sanji’s role in our upcoming battle against the World Government is more significant than it seems at first glance. It’s no secret that Luffy embodies the spirit of Joyboy, reflected in his aspirations, values, powers, and character. Many theories about the Will of D even hint at a familial bond between them. Similarly, Zoro is often compared to Shimotsuki Ryuma, the Sword God of old, due to similar familial connections. As an ardent fan, I find this interplay of history and destiny incredibly intriguing!

Some devoted fans speculate that Joyboy and Ryuma might have been companions, fulfilling roles similar to Luffy and Zoro in the present storyline. However, this idea is controversial because it’s suggested that Ryuma was active 400 years ago, but there are theories like Toki’s Devil Fruit being able to send someone forward in time that might explain this discrepancy. Regardless, given One Piece‘s tendency for interconnected characters and Inherited Will, such a connection is plausible.
Here comes Sanji into play. If the theory about Joyboy and Ryuma being Luffy and Zoro’s ancient ancestors holds up, it becomes evident that there’s no such ancient counterpart for Sanji. Despite the power of these legends being the most potent in One Piece, it seems they might not be enough against Imu and their allies, a possibility given the strength demonstrated by the Gorosei and Gods’ Knights.
Mu will show thee the dominion of God!
On this occasion, things will take a new turn. Unlike Joyboy who had just one incredibly potent ally serving as his wing, symbolic of the tale where one can’t fly with only one wing, Luffy now has Sanji and Zoro by his side. This trio is believed to be so formidable that even Imu might struggle against them. It’s not that Sanji alone holds the key to vanquishing this great evil, but it underscores the crucial role his character plays in their combined strength.
Towards the finale of the series, it seems very plausible that Zoro and Sanji will match each other in power, much like Rayleigh and Scopper do. Having two powerful individuals at par could tip the scales heavily in favor of the Straw Hats. While Sanji alone might not pose a significant threat to Imu’s throne, his power combined with Luffy and Zoro’s could be decisive in the upcoming Great War.
How Sanji And Zoro Can Get Strong Enough For The Final War
A Massive Power-Up Is Incoming

- A time skip after Elbaf may solve all these problems.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about the potential roles of Zoro and Sanji in the upcoming Great War. However, it’s important to acknowledge that at this moment, our hopes might be running a bit ahead of reality. Despite their impressive strength as Yonko Commanders, they fall short when compared to some of the most powerful characters in the series, particularly the Yonko themselves. Given that Imu seems to be far less potent than any character we’ve seen so far, this discrepancy is a bit worrying. Therefore, it appears there’s only one viable path for these two to reach the necessary power level for the Great War: they must continue to grow and evolve, harnessing their unique abilities to their fullest potential.
In other words, we might anticipate another time leap at the conclusion of Elbaf, providing an opportunity for Zoro and Sanji to learn and master Conquerer’s Haki. As demonstrated in the Final War, this skill significantly enhances the combat abilities of the strongest characters engaged in conflict. However, Zoro has only exhibited this ability, while Sanji is still unable to use it at all. This time skip could therefore be utilized by Oda to allow these heroes to reach their full potential with Conquerer’s Haki.
