Summary
- Gunko and Shamrock are Holy Knights attacking the Straw hats in Elbaf.
- Gunko is linked to Imu, possibly under their control with unique abilities.
- Gunko may not be a Celestial Dragon, hinting at her mysterious background.
Presently, the storyline of “One Piece” is unfolding in the Elbaf arc, where author Eiichiro Oda is meticulously crafting a multitude of thrilling skirmishes and paving the way for the climactic conclusion of this epic series, which seems destined to culminate in the Great War. In this context, Oda is diligently readying Luffy’s adversaries, the World Government, for the impending conflict, and at present, some of their most formidable forces, the Holy Knights, are actively engaged against the Straw Hat Pirates within Elbaf.
Among the Holy Knights, one member who stands out significantly to fans is Gunko. Interestingly, Gunko is enveloped in a veil of mystery, which adds an intriguing depth to her character. It’s worth noting that creator Oda may have hinted at Gunko’s concealed identity already.

- Gunko And Shamrock Came To Elbaf
- Gunko Took Down 4 Straw Hats
For the first time, spectators encountered Gunko during the Elbaf arc, specifically when the Straw Hat Pirates initiated their feast with the Giants. Within Aurust Castle, there was a bolt of lightning, unveiling the presence of two enigmatic figures. Time passed and it was disclosed that these individuals were none other than Shamrock Figarland, Shanks’s twin brother, and Gunko, an incredibly secretive woman wrapped in bandages.
Humans? We’re Gods, not humans! — Gunko
It wasn’t difficult for the spectators to deduce that Gunko was indeed a Holy Knight, similar to Shamrock himself. Oda further showcased Gunko’s abilities, and it became clear to everyone just how powerful she is. In fact, Shamrock had confidence that Gunko would defeat Loki even if he were unleashed.
In the latest chapter 1146 of One Piece, viewers witnessed Gunko attacking the Straw Hat Pirates, easily dominating them. Notably, Gunko abducted Collun from half the pirate crew, an unfortunate event for them. Beyond this setback, fans also caught a glimpse of Gunko’s extraordinary abilities, and what left many in awe was her regenerative capabilities. This incident leaves us wondering about Gunko’s true identity and the source of these powers.
Who Is Gunko Truly?
Gunko Is Likely Not Of Celestial Dragon Lineage
In the universe of One Piece, it’s made clear that the Holy Knights hold a status superior to the Celestial Dragons. This doesn’t automatically imply that Holy Knights must originate from the Celestial Dragon lineage. The term “Celestial Dragons” refers to the offspring of the Original 20. In comparison, the Holy Knights are often viewed as more powerful and authoritative than typical Celestial Dragons.
Watch your mouth brat. You’re in the presence of Gods! — Gunko
Although individuals like York became Celestial Dragons and Loki became a Holy Knight, it’s clear that Gunko isn’t naturally born as a Celestial Dragon, given her lack of a family name. This suggests something unique about Gunko. Her uniqueness extends beyond just her name; in fact, she stands out more than any other member of the Holy Knights seen in Elbaf, implying a special status that goes beyond her name alone.
Gunko’s Connection To Imu
Gunko Might Be Under Imu’s Control
The character of Gunko stands out in many ways, but her unique appearance is particularly noteworthy. Intriguingly, Gunko’s eyes seem oddly different from one another. This could potentially be a case of heterochromia, but it also hints at something more unusual, almost as if there’s an external influence controlling her.
Next point, it’s important to consider Gunko’s powers. She possesses the Aro Aro no Mi, the same fruit that Imu utilized to slay Cobra and wound Sabo. It seems undeniable that Gunko has consumed this Devil Fruit, as verified by Oda. However, it’s quite peculiar that Imu can also use this specific Devil Fruit.
The depth of the Gunko character doesn’t stop at this point. So far, Gunko is the sole individual sent via the Abyss. Despite Shamrock being thought to be stronger, it’s only Gunko who has summoned the Abyss, and this might be a unique ability solely possessed by her.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that Gunko shares a similar ability to regenerate, much like the Five Elders. However, what stands out is that Garling, the former Supreme Commander of the Holy Knights, visibly aged. This suggests two possibilities: either both Gunko and the Holy Knights have recently acquired these abilities from Imu; or Regeneration and Immortality are distinct powers that Imu can bestow upon others.
From everything I’ve observed, it’s undeniably clear that there’s some link between Gunko and Imu. Two major theories have been floating around. First off, I’m inclined to believe that Gunko might be under Imu’s influence, serving as a pawn in the grand scheme of things outside their inner circle. The second theory is even more intriguing – perhaps Gunko isn’t just any Holy Knight, but a close confidant or maybe even a member of the Nerona Family, which could explain why his name was kept under wraps. It’s all speculation at this point, but it’s hard to ignore these possibilities!
