Despite Smoker achieving the rank of Vice Admiral, his skills were no comparison to Luffy without his Gear 4. Although Kuzan managed to save him, since then, Smoker has been largely absent from the storyline. Fans hoped for further involvement from Smoker’s White Chase unit, but they were left disappointed as he did not appear during the Wano arc. In Egghead, even when the Marines were in action on the Pirate Island, Smoker was conspicuously missing.

This hint was given during the final moments of the Egghead Island arc when Smoker was spotted riding off on his Billower Bike as Tashigi and the other Marines departed from Pirate Island towards the nearest Navy base. Smoker’s subsequent contact with Tashigi suggests that he may be planning a significant move.

Interestingly, it turned out that Smoker wasn’t merely on a journey, but was also carrying something significant. On the rear of his Billower Bike, there was a large box prominently marked with an ‘X’.

It’s uncertain what item Smoker got hold of and from where it came from. Moreover, fans are in the dark about Smoker’s future actions because Oda is currently keeping his plans under wraps. Nevertheless, fans can take comfort in knowing that Smoker will be reappearing in the storyline shortly.

One thing fans can count on is that the Navy will clash with the Blackbeard Pirates, and when that happens, Smoker is destined to play a significant part in the narrative. For now, Smoker remains on the fringe, but it won’t be long before he, along with other Marines like Sengoku, Tsuru, and members of SWORD, join forces to orchestrate a massive assault on Blackbeard.
