One Piece: The Counter to Holy Knights’ Regeneration Revealed

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.

Summary

  • The Holy Knights have a regeneration power that makes them nearly immortal.
  • The Five Elders also possess a similar regeneration ability, received from Imu.
  • Conqueror’s Haki is the only known counter to the Holy Knights’ regeneration.

In the Elbaf storyline of “One Piece”, Luffy and his Straw Hat crew encounter some incredibly strong creatures known as the Holy Knights. For the first time, these Knights, hinted at by Oda via Dragon in Egghead, are stepping into action, and they’ve definitely left an impact. The leader of the Holy Knights, Shamrock Figarland, is a force to be reckoned with, taking charge boldly. As the older twin of Shanks, it’s clear that he possesses considerable strength.

Yet, it’s worth noting that the surviving Holy Knights exhibit formidable power, as demonstrated in recent chapters of One Piece. More notably, these knights possess a unique ability that enables them to recover from any harm sustained. In essence, this feature renders them virtually immortal, and this capacity surpassed Luffy’s during his time with Egghead. Nevertheless, Oda has already hinted at the means to counteract their regeneration.

The Regeneration Power Of The Five Elders And The Holy Knights

  • The Five Elders Could Regenerate In Egghead
  • The Holy Knights Can Regenerate Infinitely

In the world of One Piece, it isn’t just the Holy Knights who possess the power of regeneration. In fact, they weren’t the first to demonstrate this capability. The main adversaries from the Egghead arc, known as the Five Elders, were also equipped with this ability. Each of these elders could effortlessly regenerate their bodies, making them nearly invincible. During their encounter with Luffy, the Yonko seemed to have the advantage in combat. However, it was Luffy’s inability to break through their regenerative power that ultimately proved challenging. In the end, even Luffy found himself retreating from the Elders, demonstrating his failure to uncover their main vulnerability during the Egghead arc.

In the land of Elbaf, it was unexpected that even the Holy Knights possessed this regenerative power. Gunko, despite being heavily wounded by Usopp, seemed to heal effortlessly, much like consuming a simple pastry. This healing ability allowed her to single-handedly outmatch no less than five members of the Straw Hat Pirates, an impressive feat that includes Jinbe, a pirate who once engaged in combat with the formidable Yonko, Big Mom.

Imu’s Ability To Regenerate

Based on the rejuvenation capabilities of the Five Elders and the Holy Knights, it’s evident that their powers originate from Imu. In Egghead, this was particularly apparent as the Elders effortlessly took away Saturn’s powers and killed him. Similarly, the Abyssal power shared by both the Five Elders and the Holy Knights can be traced back to Imu. This power is intrinsically linked to the ruler of the world, suggesting that the key to defeating their regeneration lies in countering Imu’s powers directly.

The Counter To The Regeneration Has Already Been Revealed

Very Strong Conqueror’s Haki Can Bypass The Regeneration

– To date, Oda has unveiled a single means to combat an overpowering regenerative capacity, as demonstrated in Egghead: Conqueror’s Haki. More precisely, it was Emet who deployed Joy Boy’s strongest form of Conqueror’s Haki within Egghead. By utilizing this power, he managed to halt the summoning of the Abyss from Saturn, and simultaneously prevent their demonic transformations. The elders experienced discomfort from Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Haki, with even Imu, the primary user of this ability, feeling a bodily sensation of pain.

To summarize, defeating the regenerative powers of the Holy Knights in Elbaf requires proficient use of Conqueror’s Haki. At present, Luffy, despite possessing decent Conquerer’s Haki, is not yet capable of this feat. However, he has room to improve when visiting Elbaf. Fortunately, Scopper Gaban is present and it seems he will guide us in finding a way past the Holy Knights’ defenses.
