As a long-time One Piece fan and aficionado of all things Straw Hat Pirates, I must say that the Egghead Island arc was quite the rollercoaster ride, but it wasn’t exactly the game-changer we’ve come to expect from this series. The lack of significant combat and the focus on escape might have left some fans yearning for a new bounty update, but let me tell you, my dear friends, it ain’t gonna happen just yet!
This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Egghead Arc.
The storyline on Egghead Island from the series “One Piece” has concluded, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what’s next. It appears increasingly likely that we will move on to the Elbaf Arc in the future, an arc which many fans regard as significant and comparable to Wano and Whole Cake Island.
As a passionate One Piece fan, let me tell you that the Egghead arc was no mere appetizer; it was a giant leap in the storyline that unveiled some monumental secrets and introduced key characters like Vegapunk. This arc wasn’t just about fighting against the Cipher Pol, the Seraphims, and even the Five Elders, but more importantly, it significantly impacted the larger narrative of the series. Although it may not have been the longest arc, its importance in the grand scheme of things cannot be overstated. After the Egghead Island saga, we can expect new bounties for the Straw Hat Pirates – that’s exactly what this discussion will cover.
The Conclusion Of Egghead Island Saw The Straw Hats Escape
- Emet Unleashed Joy Boy’s Haki
As a dedicated One Piece fan, I can’t help but reflect on the thrilling conclusion to the Egghead Island arc that we’ve just experienced. This captivating storyline has been unfolding for more than a year and a half, and it’s safe to say that it delivered some truly exhilarating moments.
Thank you for everything, Iron Robo! – Luffy
1. Due to Luffy being Nika, he found himself right in the thick of all this excitement, which made it all so unique. Egghead noticed Vegapunk’s life hanging by a thread as the World Government sought revenge after York, one of his satellites, defected for the title of Celestial Dragon. This betrayal led to the World Government launching an attack on Vegapunk, sending numerous warships to his island with the intention of eliminating him and seizing the technology he had developed over time. The arrival of the Strawhat Pirates on Egghead proved beneficial for him in certain aspects.
fundamentally, this storyline featured a confrontation between the Straw Hat Pirates and government troops. The government side consisted of 30,000 Marines, comprising 10 Vice Admirals, a Marine Admiral, and one member of the Five Elders. These forces were dispersed across 100 vessels of various sizes. The Straw Hats found themselves in a very difficult situation against such formidable opponents. This storyline also included Luffy’s fight with Saturn and other Elders later on. It led to the summoning of the Five Elders to Egghead, resulting in a massive, unpredictable chaos. In the end, the Straw Hats suffered substantial losses. Tragically, Stella perished, but Lilith managed to survive. Only because of the Iron Giant, an artifact from the Void Century that had formed a bond with Joy Boy, were the Straw Hats able to make their escape.
Do The Straw Hats Deserve New Bounties After Egghead?
Why New Bounties Do Not Make Sense For The Straw Hats Right Now
When discussing potential new rewards for the Straw Hat Pirates following the Egghead Island saga, it’s crucial to evaluate whether they deserve such enhancements and how Oda perceives this particular storyline. Fans should keep in mind that Egghead Island isn’t on par with significant arcs like Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Dressrosa, or Wano. Despite its length, it remains a minor arc. Unlike those major arcs, there was no intense combat; instead, the focus was primarily on escaping.
In this storyline, it appears there’s a case being built against the Straw Hat Pirates receiving fresh bounties. Typically, when the Straw Hats acquire updated bounties, they defeat someone significant, which often triggers a new bounty due to the World Government’s concern. However, in the case of Egghead Island, it seems different.
Prevent that bounty poster from spreading at all costs! – The Fiver Elders
Starting with some context, Luffy initially earned his first bounty when he vanquished Arlong in the East Blue, a significant achievement for him. His second bounty was bestowed upon him following his triumph over Crocodile, who happened to be a member of the Shichibukai, another momentous event in his life. The third time around, Luffy received his bounty after the Enies Lobby incident, where he defeated Rob Lucci, yet another surprising turn of events. Unlike his previous bounties, Luffy got his fourth one without any major victories to show for it. His fifth bounty was awarded to him following his victory over Doflamingo, and his sixth after defeating Katakuri. Most recently, Luffy received his seventh bounty after subduing Kaido, one of the Yonko pirates.
As a dedicated One Piece fan, I must say that, despite the recent events with Egghead, Luffy hasn’t technically defeated any primary character yet, but let’s not forget about his encounter with Kizaru. While it might seem like Luffy bested him, it’s important to note that Kizaru remains an active Marine officer. Their battle was more of a skirmish than a full-blown fight where they gave it their all. Nonetheless, Luffy came out on top in this instance, and some could argue that his victory over Kizaru merits a new bounty for Luffy.
However, then, one also needs to consider the fact that Luffy is already considered to be above Kizaru in terms of power. Defeating someone weaker shouldn’t necessarily give Luffy a new bounty because that would be expected of him. Similarly, when Shanks beat Kid, nobody expected him to get a new bounty, and that is expected, because everyone knows Shanks to be stronger and capable of doing that. Similarly, Luffy should not get a new bounty just because he beat someone weaker than him. As such, while a case can be made for the Straw Hats getting new bounties following the events of Egghead Island, it is highly likely that they won’t end up getting any increase.
Currently, it seems like the Straw Hat Pirates are set to maintain their existing bounties, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of new ones in the future. Everyone knows that the Elbaf arc is on the horizon, promising significant developments. The Straw Hats are set to create quite a stir in this arc, as they often do, shaking things up in ways we wouldn’t expect. With such a monumental impact, it’s only natural to assume that new bounties will be assigned post-arc. When that happens, I have no doubt Luffy’s reward will soar, breaking the four billion mark.
