One Piece: The Unbelievable Survivors Who Challenged the Yonko!

Summary

  • Yonko are powerful pirates in One Piece with immense strength and Haki abilities.
  • Eustass Kid faced Shanks and Big Mom, losing an arm but showcasing strength.
  • Characters like Law, Zoro, Luffy faced Yonko, showcasing growth and resilience.

In the fictional world of One Piece, the term “Yonko” represents the four most powerful active pirates. Given that there are only four Yonko positions available at any given time, it indicates that very few pirates are deemed worthy enough to hold

It’s incredibly intriguing to listen to a character recount their battle story against a powerful Yonko pirate, yet in the world of One Piece, there are only a few individuals who have had this experience. The Yonko are notorious for retaliating harshly against those who cross them, but remarkably, these characters managed to survive after facing one of them.

8. Eustass Kid

Fighting Yonko Has Become Somewhat Of A Hobby For Eustass Kid

  • Targets: Shanks, Big Mom, Kaido

During a 2-year break from their journey, the Straw Hat pirates were enhancing their abilities and preparing for future adventures. Meanwhile, Kid and his team were actively maneuvering, eventually encountering the Red Hair Pirates. Although Killer described the fight as heavily skewed in favor of Kid’s opponents, he suffered a severe injury and lost an arm during the battle. As a result, when he reappears later in the story, Kid carries around a massive mechanical replacement for his missing limb.

Instead of just one Yonko, Kid appears in Wano and dares to challenge Big Mom. During this confrontation, Kid sustains some severe blows, but with assistance from Law, they bring down the colossal emperor permanently. Later on, Kid attempts to retaliate against Shanks using a giant railgun, but is once more reduced in size. Although it’s unclear what happened to Kid following this last encounter (he might still be alive), his past encounters with Yonkos demonstrate his incredible survival skills even before this fight.

7. Brook

Brook Put Up A Courageous Fight Against Big Mom In Order To Help Out His Crew

  • Target: Big Mom

In the Whole Cake Island storyline, numerous viewers believe that Brook’s most brilliant scene occurred when he bravely faced Big Mom in a solo battle, with the intention of rescuing his cherished companion, Sanji. Watching this peculiar skeleton hold his ground against not only Big Mom but also her formidable followers, the Homies, is an incredibly heroic spectacle. However, this scene left several viewers anxious, as it appeared that he was attempting to confront them all alone.

Ultimately, Brook makes it through the harrowing experience, only to be captured by Big Mom and turned into one of her prized possessions. However, this kidnapping was not without purpose, as it later becomes clear that Brook had successfully obtained a replica of the Poneglyph during his ordeal. This discovery shows that Brook’s defiance towards Big Mom extended beyond simple boasting.

6. Killer

Kid’s Second In Command Proves His Worth Against The Mighty Kaido

  • Targets: Shanks, Kaido, Big Mom

As an onlooker, I witnessed Killer, the right-hand man of Kid’s crew, undergo a harrowing series of events, both during and following the timeskip. After being publicly humiliated by Shanks’ team, Killer was compelled to ingest a SMILE fruit, which left him unable to stop laughing uncontrollably. Despite the mortifying experience, Killer managed to demonstrate his value to Kid by courageously confronting Kaido towards the closing stages of the Wano arc.

Absolutely, it’s important to note that Killer isn’t yet at the level of a Yonko himself, but he certainly had significant assistance from Zoro who took on most of the tough tasks. However, even with help, Killer should be recognized for managing to connect some powerful blows against Kaido and for miraculously surviving given how perilous his adversary was.

5. Kizaru

Kizaru, Despite Not Wanting To, Is Forced To Fight Against Luffy As Part Of His Mission

  • Targets: Whitebeard, Luffy

During the Marineford War, Kizaru had a few minor conflicts with Whitebeard, but there was another powerful Yonko he faced off against: none other than Luffy. After the Wano saga, Luffy ascended to the rank of Yonko, and his Devil Fruit has now been awakened. This made it challenging for Kizaru to inflict serious harm on the pirate.

Watching Luffy keep an Admiral at bay is undeniably remarkable, and although it might seem inevitable that Kizaru would emerge unscathed from this encounter, it was anything but a leisurely stroll. Not many Marines would be prepared to engage a Yonko in their duties, and while Kizaru harbors considerable reservations due to his friendship with Vegapunk, he nonetheless risks his life to uphold the mission’s objectives.

4. Trafalgar D. Law

Law’s Run-Ins With Yonko Haven’t Gone All That Smoothly For The Captain

  • Targets: Kaido, Big Mom, Blackbeard

Engaging in combat with a Yonko is no walk in the park, and though Law recognizes this fact, he unwillingly finds himself locked swords with Blackbeard. After the fearsome captain skillfully sets an ambush for Law and his comrades, the situation rapidly deteriorates as Blackbeard wields his two Devil Fruit powers to decimate Law’s crew. The captain barely clings to existence until, just in the knick of time, a Sulong Bepo swoops in to rescue him.

Up until now in the narrative, Law had managed to overcome Big Mom, but at great cost to his energy reserves. In this particular encounter, although he survived the battle, it’s clear that the experience will leave an enduring impact on him, affecting him not only physically but also mentally as the story progresses.

3. Akainu

Akainu’s Hatred For Pirates Kept Him Motivated After Whitebeard Almost Obliterated Him

  • Target: Whitebeard

The Marineford War was a fierce battle marked by heavy losses for both pirates and marines. Amidst the carnage, one unwavering marine soldier stood out: Admiral Akainu. A notable aspect about Akainu is his remarkable strength; he’s so powerful that he can engage in hand-to-hand combat with Whitebeard, said to be the strongest man on earth.

Following Akainu’s brutal slaying of Ace, directly witnessed by his captain, Whitebeard becomes enraged and utilizes the power of his Gur Gura no Mi Fruit, causing the ground to tremble violently as he attempts to obliterate Akainu with colossal punches. Despite being the one who emerged victorious from the fight, it’s not an overstatement to assert that if Akainu wasn’t a user of a Logia Devil Fruit, he would have been reduced to scrap metal by Whitebeard during their intense confrontation.

2. Roronoa Zoro

Kaido Would Prove To Be One Of Zoro’s Toughest Opponents And Biggest Challenges

  • Targets: Kaido, Big Mom

I, an observer, find myself consistently admiring Zoro’s unwavering loyalty as he stands steadfastly by his captain, ready to back him up in even the most perilous situations, such as when they both ascend Onigashima to confront one of the planet’s mightiest pirates – Kaido. As I watch, a doubt lingers within me: Can Zoro truly inflict a wound upon such a formidable foe? Yet, armed with Enma and augmented by his Haki, Zoro somehow manages to deliver a substantial slash to Kaido when the dragon is momentarily distracted.

In the intense clash between Kaido and Zoro, it became evident that even Kaido, a Yonko renowned for his immense durability, found it necessary to evade some of Zoro’s attacks. This indicates just how significant this encounter was. Typically, Kaido welcomes head-on attacks, but not in this case. Once the battle had concluded, Zoro discerned not only the strength inherent in his new blade, Enma, but also the progress he himself had made in terms of raw power and Haki proficiency.

1. Monkey D. Luffy

Kaido May Have Knocked Luffy Out A Few Times, But He Never Succeeded In Killing Him

  • Targets: Kaido, Big Mom

It took quite some time for Luffy to build up enough strength to fight against a Yonko, but even when he arrived at Whole Cake Island, he found it challenging to land a single blow on Big Mom. Despite managing to get away from her island unscathed, Luffy immediately switched his attention to Kaido, who frequently embarrassed the inexperienced captain with his immense strength and unexpected agility.

Even when I’ve been knocked down numerous times, I always rise again, relentlessly refining my Haki skills until I start dishing out some real damage. The untapped power of my Devil Fruit kicks in just when I need it most, giving me the edge to deal with Kaido, especially when he transforms into his dragon form. With victory over both Kaido and Big Mom, I’d earn the title of Yonko, joining an elite group of pirates who have proven they can stand toe-to-toe with these titans.
