One Piece: This Chopper Power Should Return

One Piece: This Chopper Power Should Return

Key Takeaways

  • Chopper’s Brain Point and Scope were once integral to his combat but have been abandoned in post-time skip One Piece.
  • Brain Point added depth and complexity to Chopper’s character, balancing his intelligence with Monster Point’s savagery.
  • While Scope may need an update due to its overpowered nature, its return could make Chopper’s fights more dynamic in the modern series.

As a seasoned One Piece fan who’s been sailing the Grand Line since the very beginning, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when I think about Chopper’s Brain Point and Scope. Back in the day, these abilities added a unique depth to our beloved reindeer doctor that balanced his intelligence with his savage side.

Since the post-time skip in One Piece, Chopper, the Straw Hat Crew’s doctor, has been grappling with finding his place. He seems to have shifted more towards a mascot role, which some fans find excessive and lack depth. This change is noticeable when compared to the intricate aspects of the character during arcs like Enies Lobby and Drum Island, where Chopper had ample opportunities to excel.

As a dedicated One Piece fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the old combat styles of our beloved reindeer doctor, Chopper. While his modern Kung-Fu Point technique is impressive, it seems that some of his older forms like Horn Point and Heavy Point have been overshadowed and made to look too adorable in comparison. To make matters worse, one of Chopper’s finishing techniques, Brain Point: Scope, has become a rare sight in the series. Even though both One Piece and Chopper have grown beyond the need for such power, it would be delightful to see Brain Point: Scope make a comeback before the end of this epic journey.

Chopper’s Brain Point in One Piece Was Used For Combat

Using Intellect in Combat

In the days before the Time Skip in the epic saga of One Piece, I, as the reindeer-man doctor Chopper, would often transform into Brain Point during battle. This form first made an appearance during our adventures on Drum Island. With Brain Point, I channeled my energy straight into my cranium – hence the name – boosting my cognitive abilities and enabling me to utilize my Scope ability. By focusing on a target for some time using Scope, I could identify their vulnerabilities with uncanny precision. This knowledge allowed me to swiftly take down any adversary with ease.

This will finish you. Scope!

Since the time leap in One Piece, the ability known as Scope hasn’t been utilized once. Instead, Monster Point serves as Rex’s standard finishing move. Despite some fans believing that Chopper’s current default form is Brain Point due to his enlarged head post-time skip, Scope remains unseen. In a realistic scenario, during the encounter with Big Mom on Whole Cake Island, having Brain Point as his default form would have made Scope particularly useful. Since this isn’t the case, it’s likely that Chopper has forsaken Scope in favor of his other skills.

Brain Point Helps Flesh Out Chopper’s Character

Character Development Through Powers

The peculiar Devil Fruit that Chopper possesses, with transformations such as Brain Point and Scope, has consistently kept the fight scenes intriguing within the narrative. Before the escalation of tension and gravity surrounding Monster Point, which later underwent a significant worsening post-time skip, Chopper’s battles were characterized by humorous strategies and outsmarting opponents. Regardless of his naivety, Chopper demonstrates remarkable intelligence, making his application of this intellect in combat feels fitting for the character.

In essence, during the Enies Lobby Arc of One Piece, Chopper’s Brain Point and Monster Point can be seen as complementary aspects much like Yin and Yang. Brain Point symbolizes Chopper’s intellect and humanity, whereas Monster Point represents his acceptance of his inner beast. This duality adds depth to Chopper’s character that isn’t as apparent in the more recent chapters of One Piece.

Brain Point Could Use an Update in One Piece

The Ability is Dated

One Piece: This Chopper Power Should Return

Although there are plenty of reasons to reintroduce Scope to the series, handling it well in the modern world of One Piece may be a difficult task. Scope feels a bit like an instant-win button for Chopper, allowing him to almost completely win every fight after using it. While it does create some interesting scenarios, it could make Chopper’s fights a bit formulaic and boring. However, if the fight combines Scope with the pure combat power of Monster Point, it may be a bit more interesting.

Whenever I flee from a situation, people seem to be the ones who step in to help. As a result, others don’t trust me to depend on me. It’s high time I took charge and displayed my leadership, like hoisting the pirate’s flag!

Ultimately, similar to other powerful characters in “One Piece”, abilities are occasionally employed but not revisited later on. Many of the Straw Hats possess skills that were once their primary moves but have since disappeared post-time skip. Unfortunately for Chopper, while others were granted new and more impressive techniques to compensate when Scope was taken away from “One Piece”, Chopper was only left with a sweeter version of Monster Point and the divisive Kung-Fu Point.
