Having followed the series for over two decades, I’ve watched as this lovable cyborg has grown from a timid shipbuilder to an integral member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

The tale of “One Piece” is deep into its Final Arc, where all the puzzle pieces will gradually fall into place. Since the beginning, Eiichiro Oda has subtly planted clues and obscure references that may seem trivial initially, but later prove crucial and frequently alter the course of the series when they’re fully explored.

One such thing that fans of the series have been theorizing about almost endlessly has to do with the Ancient Weapon called Pluton, which was first mentioned way back in the Alabasta arc. Moreover, the prevailing belief regarding this weapon has to do with the shipwright of the Straw Hats; Franky, so let’s go over how he may play one of the most important roles in the Final Saga of One Piece.

How Are The Two Things Linked?

In the Alabasta storyline, Pluton was the first among the enigmatic Ancient Weapons to be referenced. Similar to Poseidon and Uranus, Pluton carries a name inspired by mythological deities and is described as an immensely powerful battleship capable of obliterating an island with a single explosion. During the Void Century, it’s believed that the master craftsmen of Water 7 designed this mechanical marvel, possibly for the Ancient Kingdom.

The fact that Franky possesses these ship blueprints implies his significant role. Back when the ship was first constructed long ago, its creators understood its immense power and feared its misuse would lead to global catastrophe. To prevent this disaster, they preserved the plans and passed them onto skilled shipbuilders from Water 7 over generations. If the original ship – currently hidden beneath Mt. Fuji in Wano – were to resurface, another could be built as a countermeasure. Given that Franky is the latest individual to handle these blueprints, his connection to this mysterious vessel becomes clear.

How Franky Will Create Another Pluton

The Final Form of the Thousand Sunny

Because Franky kept the Pluton blueprints, studied them carefully, and then destroyed them to keep CP9 and the World Government from obtaining them, he has the know-how to construct the lethal weapon from scratch. This implies that during the Final War, it’s speculated that Franky will leverage this knowledge to enhance the Thousand Sunny to its maximum potential, serving as a way for him to counteract Pluton when it eventually wakes up from its deep sleep.

Regarding the possibility of their resurrection, it’s more a matter of conjecture. A hypothesis suggests that Kaido and Big Mom may not have perished in their encounters with Luffy, Law, and Kidd, but instead found themselves near Mount Fuji’s base in Wano. In the upcoming Great War, these Sea Emperors might reappear, this time stationed atop the colossal Pluton warship, a vessel of unimaginable power.

Instead, another perspective proposes that the World Government might have created their own Pluton by seizing Iceberg’s ship from Water 7. This is plausible since Iceberg had the blueprints for Pluton for four years following Tom’s demise, suggesting he probably memorized them during this time. If they discovered this, the World Government could have abducted him and compelled him to build the vessel, potentially inspiring Franky further to construct a counterpart.
