In the world of One Piece, Supreme Grade weapons are the most powerful swords ever created, forged by incredibly skilled blacksmiths. Though there are twelve Supreme Grade blades in total, the author, Eiichiro Oda, has only shown a few. Recently, with the introduction of Saint Nerona Imu, the King of the World, on Elbaph, Oda revealed another one. This new blade is far more powerful than any seen before and is incredibly durable. It also has the ability to absorb massive amounts of Supreme King Haki, which Imu wields at an exceptional level.
Breaking Down Nerona Imu’s Special Spear Curved Blade
I recently saw Saint Nerona Imu, one of the very first rulers and the person who established the World Government, make his full debut in chapter 1179 of One Piece. It was immediately obvious he was using a bladed weapon – it looked like a spear or a naginata, and he clearly knew how to use it. A lot of fans immediately think of swords when they hear ‘Supreme Grade’ weapons, but Whitebeard showed us that isn’t the only option. He wielded Murakumogiri, a famous naginata, and while it wasn’t a sword, it had a huge blade and was still considered one of the twelve Supreme Grade weapons.
Whitebeard’s massive naginata, Murakumogiri, had the unique ability to absorb and channel immense amounts of Conqueror’s Haki without damaging the weapon itself. This allowed him to unleash incredibly strong attacks, even matching the power of Gol D. Roger’s legendary blade. Visually, Murakumogiri closely resembles the weapon wielded by Imu, suggesting that Imu’s weapon is also among the most powerful in the world.
Why The King Of The World’s Spear Is A Supreme Grade Weapon
Many fans were surprised to see Imu wielding a weapon, but the reveal that it was a bladed one hinted at something incredibly powerful – a Supreme Grade blade. This makes sense considering Imu’s close aide, Saint Ethanbaron V. Nasjuro, is one of the Five Elders and possesses his own Supreme Grade weapon, Shodai Kitetsu. This ancient sword is renowned as one of the most powerful of its kind in the One Piece world.
The Holy Land…I leave to thee! — Imu, One Piece 1179
Given that Imu’s subordinate possesses a top-tier weapon, it’s logical to assume Imu himself wields an equally powerful one. It’s also hard to overlook the similarities between his weapon and Whitebeard’s; if Whitebeard’s weapon is considered top-tier, then Imu’s must be as well.

Gauging Imu’s Weapon Strength Against Other Supreme Grade Blades
Eiichiro Oda hasn’t revealed the full extent of Imu’s weapon’s capabilities. But considering Imu is the World King and used this weapon 800 years ago against Joy Boy and the Ancient Kingdom, it’s clear it’s been tempered in countless deadly conflicts, seeing more bloodshed than any other weapon. This makes Imu’s blade the most powerful in the world. The only weapons that even approach its level of strength are other Supreme Grade blades, particularly Yoru.
Yoru is just a regular sword used by a human, while Imu’s naginata is a much more powerful weapon. It’s been used in battles against Joy Boy and gains its strength from a special Devil Fruit Imu possesses. Overall, Imu’s weapon is stronger than anything we’ve seen so far, and its full potential will likely be revealed by the author in the final part of the story.
