Characters within One Piece sometimes elicit respect despite differing opinions, but none provoke such intense anger as Spandam does for me. This character consistently triggers a strong sense of irritation whenever he appears on screen, stirring an emotional response rarely seen among series characters.

During the Enies Lobby storyline, Spandam impulsively triggered the Buster Call out of excessive ambition to advance in rank and capture Nico Robin. He pressed the button as if playing with a toy, beaming with pride that seemed more like foolishness, potentially jeopardizing everyone, even his own subordinates.

Spandam embodies the antithesis of all that’s praiseworthy; he’s a feeble-minded individual who misuses his power to suppress both the weak and the powerful, masking his actions under the guise of the global administration’s authority.

Orochi Kurozumi

The Puppet Daimyo

Orochi, in disguise, schemed and murdered his way to ruling as the Daimyo of Wano, claiming it was for the sake of avenging the Kurozumi family name. Regardless of his sad past, the harshness he inflicted on Wano cannot be excused.

He degraded and put to death Kozuki Oden, who was the former Daimyo of Wano. Believing himself to be of greater importance due to his alliance with Kaido, he wrecked and contaminated what was once a thriving nation of Wano.

Orochi symbolizes the worst traits of an oppressive leader – brutality, avarice, and fearfulness. His malevolent influence lingered long after his death during the Onigashima assault, leaving behind the lingering stench of destruction.

Prospero

A Sweet Commander Of The Big Mom Pirates

In a different turn of events, Prospero might have simply become yet another irritating villain, manipulating situations under Big Mom’s power. But it was his involvement in Pedro’s demise that truly etched him into my memory from the Death Note, making him stand out.

What made Pedro’s sacrifice particularly agonizing was that Prospero lived on, while the mink warrior perished. In the Whole Cake Island storyline, Prospero had a knack for being omnipresent, causing chaos and deceiving Big Mom about a fresh wedding cake, all in an effort to preserve his own life.

1. He’s always unfair in a fight and won’t shut up, but the climax of his storyline in Wano is hands down one of the best moments in the entire series.

2. He constantly fights unjustly and doesn’t know when to be quiet, yet the conclusion of his arc in Wano ranks among the most fulfilling scenes across the whole show.

Wapol

The Glutton King

During his rule over the Drum Kingdom, Wapol’s actions were more akin to chaos rather than leadership. He deserted his kingdom during times of crisis, kept healthcare resources confined only to his preferred medical team, and found amusement in the hardships faced by his own citizens.

At the Mariejois gathering, Wapol witnessed the grim spectacle of King Cobra’s demise within the royal hall. Consequently, there is a possibility that Wapol holds significance, as if he dares to reveal what transpired in the royal chamber, his story could extend beyond being merely known as a tyrant.

Yet, despite this fresh turn in his narrative, the animosity towards him doesn’t simply vanish. This is because Wapol embodies a unique form of self-centeredness that would allow him to witness others perishing instead of distributing resources.

Basil Hawkins

The Coward Who Played God With People’s Lives

In Sabaody, Hawkins appeared enigmatic and captivating due to his tarot readings and an air suggesting he could foresee the course of destiny. Yet, his Devil Fruit, the model named Straw Straw, labels him as the most dangerous pirate in the series.

He consistently has an air of invincibility, and his authority often leads him to employ others as human shields. He manipulates the lives of his underlings and adversaries into puppets, engaging in conflict fearlessly while allowing others to suffer on his behalf.

If his hand indicates a defeat, he’ll abandon his comrades, sacrificing their lives or friendship, if necessary. Yet, he fancies himself above others due to his Devil Fruit power; however, in reality, he’s merely a coward who lacks the courage to stand for anything significant or enduring.

Kanjuro Kurozumi

The Master Of Deception

Kanjuro, part of the Akazaya Nine, grieved and upheld Oden’s memory for more than two decades. Yet, as a representative of the Kurozumi clan, he was driven by Oden’s vengeful legacy. Consequently, he deceived, backstabbed, and hindered the strategies of the Wano samurai in order to achieve his objectives.

Kanjuro, playing Orochi’s spy, was remarkably cautious and flawless in his performance. At a crucial moment when unity among the samurai was vital, he shockingly betrayed them in the most treacherous manner imaginable. In essence, he not only undermined Oden’s legacy but also abandoned brothers he once considered close, even going so far as to almost destroy Wano with his actions. His final move, carried out with a chilling grin on his face, was truly sinister.

Hody Jones

A False Sense Of Power

Hody Jones represents the transformation of unchecked anger into one’s core persona, a fate that he embraced despite hailing from a generation that could have prospered in tranquility thanks to figures like Queen Otohime and Fisher Tiger. Instead, he clung onto the hatred propagated by Arlong towards some of his fellow fishmen.

Almost singlehandedly, Hody aimed to demolish Fishman Island in a misguided attempt to boost his own importance and vent his animosity towards humans. Regrettably, the brief truce between fishmen and humans that day was overshadowed by Hody’s hollow rhetoric and senseless fury when I reflect on Fishman Island.

In simpler terms, Hody is a character driven primarily by hatred and nihilism, and his actions, such as murdering Queen Otohime to serve his selfish goals, make him one of the most detested characters within the series.

Vinsmoke Judge

A Father In Name, A Tyrant In Practice

In a twisted turn of events, this scientist, who was exceptionally skilled, genetically modified his offspring to produce emotionless, military-grade soldiers. However, when Sanji was born naturally, he was subjected to abuse. Despite his passion for cooking, Sanji was confined like an experiment gone wrong, often mistreated by his own siblings, with Judge also contributing to the torment.

To fortify his realm, he made the painful decision to unite his son with Big Mom’s daughter through marriage, thereby compromising his son’s liberty. This father, faced with an option, opted for harshness; thus far, this choice has served to maintain his empire.

Despite Sanji’s valiant effort in rescuing him and his siblings on Whole Cake Island, he remained unyielding in expressing gratitude or apologies to Sanji. Instead, he opted for quiet dignity until the very end.

Akainu

A Justice That Leaves Only Death

The top-ranking Marine Commander held a firm conviction in unwavering justice, deeming those who challenge the World Government as deserving of severe punishment. This stern individual was responsible for the heinous act of taking Ace’s life and coming close to ending Luffy’s during the Battle of Marineford.

He engaged in battle with Aokiji, his fellow high-ranking Marine officer, due to his unwillingness to allow someone else to take command of the Marines with a more empathetic approach. He is merely a puppet of the World Government, prioritizing order and unyielding justice over what’s truly just.

It’s likely that numerous fans eagerly anticipate the moment when he will be held accountable, experiencing a fair judgment.

The Face Of Corruption

Among the characters in the series, there’s one I deeply dislike just for being present – Charlos stands out as my top pick. He embodies all the negative traits associated with Celestial Dragons that we are supposed to despise.

He used his aristocratic status to brutalize, suppress, and enslave others at will, escaping any repercussions. Despite the fact that other members of the Celestial Dragons share similar traits, he is instrumental in exposing the hypocrisy within the ruling body.

When Luffy landed a punch on his face, it was undeniably one of the most gratifying scenes in the show. Yet, his uncanny ability to keep going and his unwavering smile only served to deepen the loathing towards him.
