However, the Elbaf arc took this concept and turned it on its head with the reveal of Loki being the user of another legendary Sun God Devil Fruit as well. While this remains an important part of the arc, Chapter 1142 of the One Piece manga also seems to allude to the fact that there may potentially be a Moon God Devil Fruit as well. Chapter 1142 was an incredibly important chapter for the One Piece story. This was the chapter that gave the first brief glimpse into Loki’s incredible strength as well as the possible power of St. Shepherd Sommers. While there’s no confirmation yet that this is actually his Devil Fruit power, it’s highly likely that it is, which makes Sommers perhaps the greatest threat that is currently on Elbaf.

In simpler terms, the character’s power makes his enemies’ deepest fears become real, as demonstrated in Chapter 1142 with the monstrous creatures that towered over even the Giants, including a colossal Sun God that some fans suspect is the true manifestation of Loki’s hidden God Fruit power. This sets up a significant contrast between this representation of Nika and Luffy, who is believed to be the embodiment of Nika by the Giants, as their beliefs position him as a destroyer. This creates an intriguing duality in the character of Nika.

However, another possibility is that this nightmare isn’t a Sun God at all. Maybe this is the opposite version of Nika whom the giants believe to be so, but, in actuality, may be a Moon God. For example, where Nika seeks to spread freedom and liberation to everyone, the Moon God would likely have a power that seeks to gather and control as much power for themselves as possible, setting the stage for being the ultimate villain at the end.

He was affectionately known as the ‘Laughter-Bringing Sun Deity, Nika.’ It was believed that his presence would bring joy to people’s faces and alleviate their distress.

Indeed, it appears that Luffy and Loki are both associated with different aspects of the Sun God Fruit’s legend – Luffy symbolizes its liberation side, while Loki represents its destructive aspect. Yet, the Moon God Fruit could be used as an alternative, given its dual nature can accommodate the contrast between the two Sun God Fruits.

The Moon God would essentially be the antithesis of Nika, going around the world to conquer and subjugate as many different people as they come across. They would want as much power and control over the world as possible, so it would seem that whoever has this fruit would likely have ambitions similar to this, which can be said for many characters that have been introduced in the story so far. However, there are three prime examples who fall into this trope far better than anyone else.

Of all the characters introduced in the series, there are three whose ambitions would fall perfectly in line with what the Moon God could represent. The first of these is Rocks D. Xebec, who fans know the least about, though it is known that he desired to be the king of the world. A far better example is Imu, who has kept the world under their heels since the Void Century and is being built up as the big bad of the entire One Piece story, representing all the tropes well enough.

However, the most likely example of who the Moon God could be is Blackbeard, since his story is intertwined with Luffy’s, and he is the exact opposite of the Straw Hat in just about every way. Currently, very little is truly known about Blackbeard’s story, particularly his Devil Fruit, which gives him unmatched power, so it’s entirely possible that his true Devil Fruit is a Mythical Zoan Moon God fruit, which follows the trend of his Devil Fruit powers as well.
