One Piece’s Strongest Devil Fruit Is Officially Confirmed (It’s Not The Nika Fruit)

Devil Fruits are the core power source in the world of One Piece, and fans have known this for a long time. The author, Oda, introduced them early in the story as the primary way characters gain abilities, and he’s continued to develop them as the story has progressed towards the Grand Line.

After decades of One Piece, it’s understandable that the series features a huge number of Devil Fruits. However, only a few of these can be considered truly the most powerful. Actually, Oda has already shown us what he considers the strongest Devil Fruits so far, and surprisingly, it’s not Luffy’s Nika fruit.

The Yami Yami no Mi Is The Most Overpowered Devil Fruit

I think Luffy’s Nika Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful, easily one of the strongest we’ve seen. However, it’s not the *absolute* strongest. Oda has already shown us what he considers the most powerful Devil Fruit ability in the story, and that title belongs to the Yami Yami no Mi, currently wielded by Yonko Blackbeard. We first got a glimpse of its terrifying power during the fight between Blackbeard and Ace, and it’s safe to say it’s truly frightening.

Even though it’s a Logia-type Devil Fruit, the Yami Yami no Mi doesn’t let the user transform into darkness itself. Interestingly, any damage the user receives is actually doubled. But as a trade-off, it gives the user the ability to negate the powers of other Devil Fruits. Furthermore, it allows the user to harness the power of limitless gravity, which is inescapable. Blackbeard states that this makes it the most powerful ability of all.

I’ve always heard that the Yami Yami no Mi is the strongest Devil Fruit overall, but when it comes to sheer attacking power, another fruit really stands out. According to Oda himself, the Gura Gura no Mi, once wielded by Whitebeard and now in Blackbeard’s hands, is the most powerful in terms of firepower. It lets the user generate earthquakes and massive tsunamis, capable of sinking entire islands. Because of this, people say it has the power to destroy the world.

Although the Nika Devil Fruit isn’t quite as strong as the Yami Yami no Mi or the Gura Gura no Mi, it’s remarkably close in power. It’s now considered one of the most mysterious abilities, and it’s officially known as the most absurd power ever seen. In some ways, Luffy’s ability allows him to compete with anyone, but its effectiveness heavily depends on the user’s imagination.
