As a long-time Pokemon enthusiast and collector, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement when I see the potential for Eeveelutions in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Having grown up with the original series, I remember the thrill of collecting those holographic cards, and the Eeveelutions were always a highlight due to their rarity and beautiful artwork.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m right in the thick of the Pokemon TCG Pocket craze! This mobile game has taken the world by storm with over 30 million downloads across all platforms, and it’s easy to see why. The game’s promotions and events have played a significant role in its success. The latest event spotlights the beloved Normal Pokemon, Meowth. In these special event duels, players can try their luck at snagging powerful EX Lapras copies. These events aren’t just about attracting new players; they keep us engaged and coming back for more. I can feel the anticipation building for when one of its most popular creatures will be featured next, bringing in even more gamers and keeping us loyal fans hooked!
Similar to how Pokemon Go aims to attract less hardcore players, the Pokemon TCG Pocket version also focuses on a wider audience. Although it has simpler mechanics compared to the traditional trading card game, it still offers an engaging combat experience. Just like with the real-life trading cards, the main appeal of TCG Pocket lies in collecting the most powerful and aesthetically pleasing cards. Now that popular Pokemon like Pikachu, Mewtwo, the Gen. 1 starters, and Meowth have been featured prominently, there’s another Pokemon that the game can introduce to gain even more mainstream popularity.
Eevee Seems to be an Inevitable Event Feature in Pokemon TCG Pocket
In terms of upcoming promotional events for the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, it makes perfect sense to focus on Eevee and its evolutions, given that there are currently eight distinct forms of Eeveelution.
Pokemon | Type |
Vaporeon | Water |
Flareon | Fire |
Jolteon | Electric |
Umbreon | Dark |
Espeon | Psychic |
Leafeon | Grass |
Sylveon | Fairy |
Glaceon | Ice |
Currently, only Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon can be found within the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, as these particular Eevee evolutions are featured in the initial booster pack known as “Genetic Apex.
In various official popularity polls, Eeveelutions consistently place high. For instance, a survey published on December 2023 by Gamewith revealed that Sylveon, the Fairy-type Eeveelution, is the fourth most beloved Pokemon in Japan. Similarly, in the latest Pokemon of the Year results for the Kanto region, Eevee ranks fourth. In addition, in community surveys run on r/Pokemon in 2024, Eevee came in fifth, just behind its Dark-type evolution Umbreon.
Eevolutions Have Some of the Most Collectible Card Artwork
For enthusiasts, obtaining Eevee isn’t much of a challenge, but evolving it can be trickier. The scarcest forms of Eevee in the Pokémon Trading Card Game are particularly prized due to their stunning artwork created by renowned artists. A noteworthy example is the Holofoil Flareon, beautifully illustrated by Kyoko Umemoto with vibrant orange and yellow tones contrasting a chilly, dismal backdrop of a nighttime grassland scene.
Certain Eevee evolution cards are greatly valued due to their scarcity, such as the Gold Star Umbreon, which was exclusively obtained from a special, limited-edition pack distributed between March and September 2009. Introducing similar cards for the Eeveelutions in Pokemon TCG Pocket would be well-received by both long-term collectors and novice players.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Could Rollout Remaining Eeveelutions as Event Cards
The Eeveelutions definitely deserve to be featured on Booster Packs, and this sentiment is backed by the fact that the IRL TCG recently released the Prismatic Evolution expansion featuring them. Pokemon TCG Pocket could give popular Eeveelutions like Umbreon and Sylveon their own packs and give them immersive highlight cards. The game could take it a step further and create deck accessory art featuring the remaining Eeveelutions. Having a complete Eevee family on a playmat would be nice to see. Even PROMO or Battle Event Cards featuring alternate art of existing Eeveelutions in the game would surely be a hit among avid collectors.
The current Eeveelutions deck ranks at the bottom (or doesn’t rank at all) of most Pokemon TCG Pocket Genetic Apex Deck tier lists. However, that might change once stronger critters like Sylveon get introduced into the Dex. As such, competitive players should adjust their expectations accordingly once the Eevee events do materialize.
