It’s tough to care about other characters’ abilities when the main hero, Saitama, wins almost every battle with a single hit. However, One-Punch Man cleverly uses its hero Ranking system to still showcase what other heroes are capable of.
The S-Class heroes are known as the most powerful characters in the anime, able to handle incredibly dangerous threats like dragon-level monsters. However, even within this elite group, some heroes stand out more than others. Here’s a ranking of all the S-Class Heroes to see how they compare.
King, the Weakest “Strongest” Hero
-
Everyone calls King the “Strongest Man on Earth,” but that’s a huge misunderstanding. He didn’t actually earn the title through strength; a combination of luck and mistaken assumptions led people to believe he’s incredibly powerful. In truth, King is just a regular guy who loves comics and video games. He just happens to be near monsters when Saitama defeats them, and people wrongly assume he was the one who fought them.
It’s amusing how other heroes and monsters still believe the hype, either being wowed or frightened by it. King’s reputation might be enough to scare off powerful monsters, but he simply doesn’t have the power to actually defeat them.
Tanktop Master Has Limited Options
Tanktop Master is a powerful fighter and leads the Tank Topper Army, even managing to trade blows with Garou at first. However, when stacked against other S-Class Heroes, his power is somewhat limited. He doesn’t have any special powers or weapons – he depends solely on his natural strength, which Garou’s martial arts skills quickly surpassed.
Puri-Puri Prisoner Struggles, But Continues to Grow Stronger
Even though Puri-Puri Prisoner is a top-level hero, he suffered a defeat against Deep Sea King early in the series. This loss motivated him to improve, and later on, he bravely took down a powerful demon called “Free Hugger” all by himself. He won by crushing the demon, though he was injured in the fight.
During the third season, he keeps winning against incredibly powerful monsters, all while dodging attacks from Nyan, a truly formidable dragon-level creature. However, after Nyan breaks free, Puri-Puri reveals that Nyan’s choice to battle other heroes was a mistake, implying Nyan isn’t as strong as the other top-ranked, S-Class heroes.
Superalloy Darkshine’s Strength is Unreal
Superalloy Darkshine is a remarkably strong hero, known for his incredible defense. He’s trained his muscles to be so powerful they function like a suit of armor. In Season 3, when the heroes raid the monsters’ lair, he bravely uses his body to block attacks and protect his team.
In Season 3, Episode 12, he battles Insect God, withstanding a flurry of quick attacks. He then decisively defeats Insect God with a single punch, demonstrating his powerful offensive capabilities alongside his strong defense.
Watchdog Man, the Guardian of An Entire City
This hero, a solid mid-tier S-Class ranked protector of Q-city, shares a similar deadpan attitude to Saitama – nothing really impresses him. During the fight with Garou in Season 3, he effortlessly overwhelmed him with both speed and strength, pushing Garou to the brink of defeat. He’s also consistently handled major monster threats to Q-city all by himself.
Genos is More Powerful Now, But It Has a Limit
Genos is driven to become as strong as Saitama, and he’s made incredible progress. Starting as a promising new hero, he worked his way up to the S-Class rank. As a cyborg, his potential for growth is essentially unlimited, and he’s always improving his abilities with Dr. Kuseno’s help. During his battle with Garou in Season 2, Garou even acknowledged that Genos had reached a power level comparable to Tanktop Master.
During Season 3, Genos, following Saitama’s advice, requested that Dr. Kuseno boost his power even more. However, Dr. Kuseno cautioned that this upgrade was risky, as it prioritized maximum damage over the longevity of Genos’s components. Genos can only safely use the full extent of these upgrades for ten seconds; going beyond that could severely damage or even destroy his body and core.
Drive Knight’s Strength is Still A Mystery
Drive Knight first appeared in Season 1, but hasn’t had a major battle yet. Like Genos, he’s a powerful cyborg equipped with many different weapons. Interestingly, he doesn’t trust Metal Knight and actually cautions Genos about him.
During the second season, viewers saw him demonstrate his power by using an advanced blade to scare off monsters. Based on his hero rank and battle experience, he’s probably more powerful than Genos. He approaches fights with a very calculated strategy and doesn’t appear to show much emotion.
Metal Bat is A Mix of Brute Strength and Resilience
In Season 2, Metal Bat showed incredible power by defeating two powerful demons, Centisenpai and Lafreshidon. Even after being knocked unconscious, he quickly recovered by literally snapping himself awake. When a stronger dragon-level monster, Centichoro, showed up, Metal Bat immediately jumped into battle.
I watched as Metal Bat fought Centichoro, but the battle was interrupted by Garou. Garou seemed genuinely surprised by how tough Metal Bat was – his power and the speed of his attacks really caught him off guard. He even admitted that if one of Metal Bat’s hits had landed, he might have been in real trouble. Even after being knocked down, Metal Bat wasn’t finished; he quickly recovered and almost got a surprise attack in, but his younger sister intervened.

Pig God Might Lust Eat Any Monster He Faces
Pig God first demonstrated his incredible power by consuming and defeating Eyesight, a very powerful demon. Even Eyesight’s poison couldn’t harm him. He repeated this feat in Season 3, swallowing another demon whole. While we haven’t seen the full extent of his abilities, Pig God’s massive appetite appears to make him incredibly durable and resistant to attacks.
Metal Knight Controls the Battlefield From a Distance
Metal Knight, unlike Genos and Drive Knight, isn’t a cyborg – he uses technology but is actually a human. We briefly see the real Metal Knight in Season 3, Episode 1, and he appears to be a normal person with access to impressive technology and knowledge.
He prioritizes sensible, practical choices over grand, heroic gestures, which is why he didn’t reveal the Monster Association’s hideout. As one of the strongest heroes in the S-Class, he’s likely holding back a significant amount of his power.
