Only 26% of Dispatch Players Made This Invisigal Choice, and I Feel Bad Being One of Them

This article contains spoilers for Dispatch up to the end of Episode 4.

Dispatch is one of the best story-driven games with meaningful choices I’ve played since Telltale Games was at its peak with titles like The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands. Like those games, Dispatch has strong writing and a compelling story, but it also gives me the same anxiety about making the ‘right’ choice. I often overthink decisions in these kinds of games, and I immediately wished I’d made a different choice with the character Invisigal in Episode 2 of Dispatch.

I usually play RPGs by choosing the “good” and lawful options – I admit it’s a bit predictable! That’s how I approached Robert Robertson’s story in Dispatch, trying to build the Z-Team from a struggling group of criminals into a high-performing team. I focused on strict, demanding choices to reflect this play style, but I think it was the wrong approach, and I wish I’d made different decisions.

Dispatch Made Me Feel Guilty About Ratting Out Invisigal in Episode 2

I seem to be one of the few who didn’t like Invisigal when she first appeared in Dispatch alongside Robert at SDN. After the first episode, I really liked the Blonde Blazer and even chose for Robert to kiss her during their date – apparently, a lot of other players did too! But when Invisigal showed up as someone unreliable and a hindrance to Robert’s work, I found her frustrating, especially compared to the much more competent Blonde Blazer.

Invisigal’s Episode 2 Choices Didn’t Prepare Me for Her Episode 3 and 4 Story

  • 8% of players rejected Royd’s bro fist
  • 26% of players ratted out Invisigal
  • 46% of players didn’t let Sonar meet Vanderstenk

Looking back, I probably acted too distant in this episode, turning down Royd’s attempt at a friendly gesture and stopping Sonar from bothering Vanderstenk during the mission. However, my biggest error in Dispatch Episode 2 was definitely being too critical of Invisigal and then telling Blonde Blazer about her hitting Robert. I was trying to make a good impression on Blazer and wrongly assumed Invisigal’s actions wouldn’t significantly impact the Z-Team’s progress.

Looking back, it’s clear that Invisigal was a more important character in Dispatch than I initially thought, especially knowing the incredibly talented Laura Bailey voices her. However, Dispatch moved quickly, and I didn’t have much time to make a decision. I reacted impulsively and decided to scold Invisigal, hoping it would help the Z-Team improve. As her feelings for Robert became more obvious in later episodes, I realized I completely missed the hints that were already there in Dispatch Episode 2.

I Feel Like My Obliviousness Ruined My Chances with Invisigal in Future Dispatch Episodes

Even though I was really focused on building a relationship with Blonde Blazer, I still felt bad about how I’d been treating Invisigal, particularly after helping her catch Lightningstruck. I’d gotten the stronger team I wanted, but it felt like I’d rejected a possible romantic interest in the process. After deciding to let Sonar go at the end of Episode 3, I started to question whether my harsh, practical approach was the right thing to do.

Very few players of Dispatch assisted Invisigal in their battle with Lightningstruck, which made completing that achievement feel particularly rewarding.

My Final Choice in Dispatch Episode 4 Stung Even More After the Way I Treated Invisigal, and I Wish I Could Undo It

I thought telling Invisigal to forge her own path would put my guilt about how I’d treated her to rest. However, the end of Episode 4 presented a difficult decision: choose dinner with Blonde Blazer or a movie with Invisigal. It felt like this choice would determine the direction of any potential romance in Dispatch, but I’d already committed to Blazer. Rejecting Invisigal, especially after feeling like we were making progress, was even more painful than any previous decision, and if I could replay things, I’d definitely be kinder to her from the start.

It seems I’m in the minority again – 34% of players would rather have dinner with Blonde Blazer than go to a movie with Invisigal.
