As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Diablo 4 has certainly not disappointed! The Infernal Hordes have tested even the most experienced players like me to the limit. The Tormentor, in particular, has been quite the challenge – stronger than Uber Lilith? That’s a bold claim, but I can confirm it hits harder than a Kryptonian at the gym!
In Diablo 4, you’ll encounter three significant new adversaries: the Tormentor, the Desecrator, and the Burning Butcher. Interestingly, despite not being classified as a boss, the Tormentor has surpassed Uber Lilith in strength among these three enemies.
In the final stage or ‘endgame’ mode, even though this Season 5 activity was designed for seasoned players, veterans encountered challenges and rewards beyond their expectations.
Reddit user SnooWalruses7933 asserted that the character is “10 times stronger than Lilith.” They explained, “Why is this character so powerful? He’s like a gym-goer who focuses only on chest and arms. So he deals an incredible 12 trillion damage.”
Several people pointed out that the Tormentor essentially sets a damage-dealing threshold, or “DPS check”, for the Infernal Hordes tier. If you find it challenging to overcome it initially, consider stepping back to strengthen your character. This can be achieved by acquiring better equipment and battling Tormented bosses to obtain Mythic Uniques.

The player asserted, “He’s present for you to measure his power level,” while others admitted that they had lost their hardcore characters because they were not prepared when encountering him.
The most effective strategy against the Tormentor is learning its attack rhythm. Its Area of Effect attacks are incredibly powerful and could deplete your health rapidly, making evasion a wiser approach.
Sorcerer is the best class to face this beast thanks to the meta projectile builds. But you can always tank hits with the Barbarian and Druid, provided you have enough HP. Lastly, make sure you know when to give up and turn down the tier level, as you can always explore more to grow stronger.
Among the enemies of the Infernal Horde, it’s not just The Tormentor who can be tough to overcome; even some opponents are quickly defeated by the powerful Desecrator.
Despite being challenging for many, there were few complaints lodged against these adversaries. Few requested changes from the developers, suggesting that they may have found the challenges enjoyable instead.
Despite ongoing criticism about the one-shot mechanics in the Pit boss fights, Season 5’s Infernal Hordes continue to be the preferred gameplay mode, despite its challenging nature.
