OpTic Gaming Layoffs Surface Across Social Media

As a long-time fan of OpTic Gaming, I’ve seen the highs and lows this organization has gone through. It’s disheartening to see yet another round of layoffs hitting the team, especially those who have been with them for years. The esports industry is notorious for its volatility, but it’s the people behind the scenes who make the magic happen, and their dismissals are more than just numbers on a balance sheet.

Over the past few hours, rumors about mass layoffs at OpTic Gaming have popped up on social networks. Although the company hasn’t officially commented on the number of employees affected, some sources suggest that the merchandising, graphic design, and e-commerce departments may be involved.

At Twitter, employees who work for event management at ‘ESA’, or Esports Stadium Arlington, have additionally shared that they’ve lost their positions with OpTic Gaming as well.

Another Round

At the beginning of 2023, OpTic Gaming underwent a staff reduction, mirroring a pattern that was emerging across the esports and gaming industry which resulted in numerous employees losing their jobs. The exact number of individuals affected wasn’t disclosed at the time, and it seems they are following a similar approach now.

On various social networking platforms, some ex-employees of OpTic Gaming have shared sincere posts after their separation from the company.

Today marks an official farewell for me with OpTic. I hope I managed to motivate at least one person during this remarkable journey.

The past two years have been a rollercoaster of blood, sweat, tears, and laughter.

Over the next week, I’ll be sorting things out, and then we’ll return stronger than before.

I appreciate all of you; it was an incredible experience working with everyone.

Critics have swiftly voiced their disapproval towards OpTic Gaming, with allegations of poor management circulating on social media. It has been suggested that one of the teams most affected by this is the staff at the Esports Stadium Arlington, which is the biggest esports venue in North America. In 2022, OpTic Gaming took over management of this stadium, and in 2023, it played host to a Call of Duty League Major event.

On Twitter, Jacob Hale proposed that the majority of the job cuts affected skilled workers, leadership positions, and a portion of the production team.

We’ve reached out to representatives of OpTic Gaming for comment.
