OpTic Shotzzy Wants More EU Majors Thanks to Madrid Crowd

The Major I tournament of the Call of Duty League is unfolding right now in Madrid, and it’s a significant event as it marks the first major CDL competition held in Europe in quite some time. The energy among the fans is palpable. One player who hopes to see more European events is OpTic Texas’ Shotzzy, whom I spoke with following OpTic’s tight victory over LA Guerrillas M8.

It’s been quite some time since the Call of Duty esports (excluding Warzone) made its appearance in London, yet it remains a preferred choice among both fans and players as a potential venue for upcoming events.

‘I Love The EU Crowd’

Following our hard-fought 3 – 2 victory against LAG, which surprised quite a few spectators, Shotzzy openly expressed his admiration for the European audience.

I love the EU crowd, they’re insane. I love y’all.

I will say you guys are definitely the better crowd than NA, but obviously we love NA, so.

When I probed and asked if Shotzzy wanted to go anywhere else in Europe, he revealed:

I’d say London. I had a really bad interview back then, in London, so I’ve got to get my get back.

Optic’s Huke, who joined the team after Pred’s unexpected exit last year, echoed Shotzzy’s feelings:

Optic’s Huke, who came on board following Pred’s sudden departure last year, shared the same thoughts as Shotzzy:

I think the EU crowd is crazy, I’m not going to lie – in a good way.

Initially ranking first in Major I, OpTic Texas encountered an unfortunate setback with a 2 – 3 defeat at the hands of the Miami Heretics (that pesky hex again). This loss propelled them into the elimination round. After triumphing over LAG M8, OpTic Texas is now preparing to square off against the Carolina Royal Ravens in their next match.

In the initial CDL Minor tournament, the Royal Ravens knocked out OpTic Texas, but then were themselves ousted by FaZe Clan. Is this a chance for OpTic Texas to retaliate, as Shotzzy describes, and ‘settle the score’?

Stay tuned for more of the latest news from the CDL Major I tournament in Madrid.
