2025 has proven challenging for OpTic Texas, as they’ve been experiencing a string of losses since its start. Their last qualifying win was back at the end of January, and at the Madrid Major, they were eliminated following a single series victory in the lower bracket. Currently, the team is on a long losing streak, having lost 15 consecutive maps, and they’re near the bottom of the CDL stage rankings.
Currently, the team is evenly balanced with five wins and five losses, making it a .500 winning percentage in the season so far. However, if they lose just one more game, they’ll slide into a losing record and potentially drop lower in the standings on the league table.
Texas in Turmoil
Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a shift in my team, OpTic Texas. The excitement and fire we usually carry seem to have dimmed, replaced by an air of disappointment that’s hard to miss. My face in the camera feeds doesn’t reflect the usual intensity and passion we bring to the game. It’s been a tough losing streak, and it’s taking its toll on us.
Lately, Optic’s proprietor, Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez, stirred up debate with his contentious remark during a live stream, labeling the current team as the most underperforming in Optic’s history. This losing streak, unprecedented for the organization, has been quite surprising.
This stage alone, OpTic Texas has lost with an 0 – 3 scoreline against:
- Toronto Ultra
- Miami Heretics
- Carolina Royal Ravens
- Minnesota Rokkr
- Atlanta FaZe
Currently, the amusing consensus is that even the Vegas Falcons, who’ve lost more than twenty Hardpoint rounds since the season began and have an overall record of 0-16, have shown a stronger performance in this recent phase.

In their latest match, Optic suffered defeat at the hands of Toronto Ultra who delivered a crushing blow. In this game, JoeDecieves (ULT) established a new Kill-Death ratio record with 2.05, bolstered by a positive score on both sides in the initial Hardpoint.
Texas took a devastating loss throughout, as the final round of Control was a 3-0 demonstration by Ultra that was hard to ignore. Ironically, this Major event is where OpTic Texas will compete, and unfortunately for them, they find themselves at the bottom rung of the ladder heading into the upcoming LAN tournament, which will take place in the very arena they claimed their CDL Championship last year.
On various social media platforms, enthusiasts of the OpTic franchise are in a frenzy, trying to find solutions to turn things around. Most agree that a significant overhaul of the team’s roster is necessary, but there’s disagreement about who should take the blame. The majority of accusations are directed towards Kenny, with many believing that Huke should not have been replaced for Pred’s return.
What do you think needs to be done for OpTic Texas to win a series? Let me know in the comments.
