Last night, Hector ‘HECZ’ Rodriguez from OpTic Gaming shared a detailed video discussing the ongoing struggle, or “curse,” that OpTic Texas has been facing within the Call of Duty League. Shortly afterwards, the team endured another defeat, setting a map record of 0-18 – a dismal score that ranks among the worst in Call of Duty esports history.
Beyond that fact, in their series against the current champions of the CDL, the LA Theives, Optic’s Kenny achieved the lowest Kill-Death (KD) ratio ever recorded in competitive Call of Duty history. Regardless of whether it’s a matter of curse or poor luck, something definitely needs to be adjusted for OpTic Texas, as they are currently experiencing an unprecedented string of bad fortune.
Top to Bottom
In the previous year, OpTic Texas emerged victorious at the Call of Duty League Championship, the highest honor in their competitive environment. This marked the first global championship for OpTic in Call of Duty in quite some time, and the exceptional skill of this team was widely recognized and applauded by all.
Moving on to present times, supporters are voicing their discontent with the current team, which has delivered one of the poorest records ever seen in competitive history. In their most recent series of games, OpTic Texas has managed zero victories, losing all 18 matches without winning a single map across six encounters.
Shortly after the latest game concluded, it became apparent that Kenny’s kill-death ratio had dipped to 0.3, an all-time low in Call of Duty esports records. This statistic, as reported by data collection sites, is a record usually set by champions, making his current performance rather unexpected.
During the Hardpoint match versus the LA Thieves, Kenny dismally achieved only 11 kills, as the Thieves handed out a crushing defeat.
Or simply:
In the Hardpoint game against the LA Thieves, Kenny managed only 11 kills, taking a heavy beating from the opponents.
In a recent HECZ video, the OpTic Texas team appeared cheerful yet puzzled, discussing potential issues. The general feeling among their office-mates is that a curse may be affecting the team. Fans globally are urging for modifications, but there’s no clear understanding of what adjustments should be made to help OpTic Texas win more maps.
In a matter of days, Major II, supported by OpTic, faces an unfavorable situation in Texas. Starting from the lowest rung at their home tournament, they only have one opportunity left to keep their chances alive.
What do you think needs to change at OpTic Texas?
