OpTic Texas Loses to Paris Gentle Mates After Perfect Bracket Run

OpTic Texas didn’t quite achieve victory at the first major Call of Duty League event of the season, especially since it was held in their home city. They reached the championship match of the CDL Major I tournament in Dallas, but were defeated by a very strong Paris Gentle Mates team. This loss was particularly tough considering OpTic had previously won every match in the upper bracket without losing a single map.

Paris showed great determination, initially losing 3-0 to OpTic Texas in the early rounds. They then fought back, defeating FaZe Vegas and ultimately eliminating OpTic to reach the championship match.

OpTic Texas Finally Loses a Grand Final

OpTic Texas hadn’t been defeated in a championship match since winning the Call of Duty League Championship in Canada last summer. They continued their success with a win at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. After that, the Call of Duty League entered a long off-season, giving OpTic time to enjoy their victories while things were quiet.

OpTic Texas seemed poised for success at Major I in Dallas. Although they hadn’t started the Black Ops 7 season particularly strongly, they easily defeated Riyadh Falcons and Minnesota G2 with 3-0 sweeps, earning a spot in the winner’s finals against Paris.

OpTic Texas secured another convincing 3-0 victory, comfortably advancing to the grand final where they waited to see if FaZe Vegas or Paris could mount a comeback. FaZe had played exceptionally well in the lower bracket, but their run ended with a heartbreaking loss in the final seconds of a close game five. Earlier, Vegas had eliminated Boston, the Falcons, LAT, and G2 from the competition.

OpTic Texas played well in the championship match, but Paris Gentle Mates ultimately won. OpTic struggled in Search and Destroy, losing every map in that game mode, which gave Paris a significant advantage and secured their victory.
