As we draw near to the second minor tournament of the Call of Duty League, it appears not all teams are fully ready for the competition. It’s been an entire month since OpTic Texas managed to win even a single map during competitive play, resulting in a 1-3 loss against the Carolina Royal Ravens at Major I held in Madrid.
This prolonged losing spell, currently standing at nine losses to zero wins, arises following Pred’s return to the team. Now, a number of fans are expressing doubt about this decision. In the upcoming event, Major II, OpTic Texas will go up against the Vegas Falcons, and this battle has the Green Wall showing apprehension.
Could it be that the Vegas Falcons will secure their first victory against OpTic Texas, the current Call of Duty League Championship titleholder?
The Mighty Have Fallen
At Major I, OpTic Texas entered as the top contender for victory, but their journey took an unexpected turn as they were shuffled around from one opponent to another. The Heretics knocked them down into the lower bracket, and then the Carolina Royal Ravens eliminated them completely. In the end, it was Atlanta FaZe who claimed the trophy in Madrid.
Nobody could have predicted what would happen thereafter.
In their last three matches, OpTic Texas hasn’t managed to secure a single map win, a situation that is clearly affecting the team. After their defeat against Atlanta FaZe on February 15, OpTic’s player Dashy became visibly frustrated and attempted to throw his camera in anger. It’s worth noting that OpTic Texas isn’t the only team struggling with map records, as they currently occupy a low position in the standings.
So far in this stage, neither the Vegas Falcons nor LAG M8 have managed to win a single game. The Vegas Falcons have a map record of 2 – 12, while LAG M8’s map record stands at 3 – 9 with no victories.
Struggling severely, the Las Vegas Falcons have become an object of ridicule within the Call of Duty League. To date, they’ve only managed to win a single map in any competition, and they remain far from earning even one CDL point in the professional rankings.
Over the last week, some teams truly thrived in the competitive arena. Notably, the LA Thieves emerged victorious in all their matches against Carolina, Vegas, and Ultra, losing only a single map along the way. On the other hand, OpTic Texas faced more challenges, dropping multiple maps during their games.
In the lead-up to the Major II tournament in Texas, Surge has emerged victorious in every match they’ve played. It was only a short while ago that Surge introduced Neptune, a fittingly named player who has filled the void left by Hicksy. So far, he’s shown his worth, with the team dominating Cloud9, LAG M8, and even Atlanta FaZe, who are champions of Minor I and Major I.
