The original Backyard Football game is being re-released on Steam and mobile devices.
On Tuesday, the creators of Playground Games revealed that they’re bringing back Backyard Football 99 on September 9th. Similar to previous revivals of the classic Backyard Sports series, this updated version of Backyard Football will feature legendary NFL athletes like Jerry Rice, Dan Marino, Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Barry Sanders, John Elway, Drew Bledsoe, and more. In all, you’ll get to choose from 30 NFL legends for your team!
This game offers not only a single match mode but also a 14-match season mode for a more extended play experience. Additionally, it includes traditional field boosts like “Hocus Pocus”, “Leap Frog”, “Cough Drop”, and “Spring Loaded”.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the re-release of Backyard Football! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a revamp – we’ve already had Backyard Baseball ’97, Backyard Baseball ’01, and Backyard Soccer come back. And guess what? The creative minds at Playground Productions and Mega Cat Studios are still cooking up more goodness for other classic Backyard Sports games like Backyard Basketball and Backyard Hockey! Can’t wait to dive back into these nostalgic titles!
Besides bringing back some beloved old games, Playground Productions intends to introduce fresh instalments in the Backyard Sports series. However, details regarding their release dates remain undisclosed at this time.
