In The Outer Worlds 2, each of the four main regions features a unique collection quest. On Paradise, players gather Science Magazines, while on Golden Ridge, they recover lost Murals. The Cloister region tasks players with finding Excogitation Logs. Finally, the Praetor quest involves recalibrating Lightning Towers using terminals at Grounding Stations scattered throughout the area.

Outer Worlds 2 features five Grounding Stations, each connected to a Lightning Tower. This guide will show you how to begin the quest to find them all, offer helpful tips for locating every Lightning Tower, and explain the rewards you’ll receive for finding all five Grounding Station locations.

How to Start The Praetor Collection Quest

Where to Start ‘Fiddling With Fulgurating Fulminations’ in Outer Worlds 2

To begin the “Fiddling With Fulgurating Fulminations” quest in Outer Worlds 2, players can either speak with Exemplar Simon at the Grounding Station in the southeastern part of the area, or locate and fix a Lightning Tower without talking to him first.

To find Exemplar Simon at the Grounding Station, go to the eastern side of Praetor. It’s located between Auntie’s Choice to the southeast and the main Automech building. Look for a path that curves around the back of the Grounding Station – Exemplar Simon is waiting on the lift platform there.

If you repair a Lightning Tower before you meet Exemplar Simon, you’ll automatically begin the ‘Fiddling With Fulgurating Fulminations’ quest. But remember, after finishing the quest, you still need to go see Exemplar Simon to claim your rewards.

Where To Find All Grounding Stations in Outer Worlds 2

Every Grouding Station Location on Praetor

Outer Worlds 2 Lightning Tower 1: Southeast of the Tomb of the Matriarch

  • Location Notes: The Grounding Station at this location is missing a part. To get this part, you must venture to the east and into a Scrapper camp. Defeat the Scrappers, get the Replacement Part off of a table, then put it back into the port at the station to activate this terminal.

Outer Worlds 2 Lightning Tower 2: West of the Northwestern Bridge

  • Location Notes: The path to this area is infested with Verachnids – the main bug enemy on Praetor. Quick-save before you make your way up the hill to this Grounding Station in case you get swarmed.

Outer Worlds 2 Lightning Tower 3: Southeast from the Grounding Tower

  • Location Notes: The area surrounding this Grounding Station is infested with Mantid enemies (though not nearly as many as the previous Lightning Tower). Defeat these wasps, then enter the station to recalibrate the nearby Lightning Tower.

Outer Worlds 2 Lightning Tower 4: South of Automech Facility

  • Location Notes: The door to this Grounding Station is locked. You must either have a high enough Lockpick skill to break open the front door, or navigate to the rooftop and drop down. Be careful of the warring Raptidon and Protectorate enemies around this area.

Outer Worlds 2 Lightning Tower 5: South of the Rift Modulator Location

  • Location Notes: To get to this Grounding Station, you must have found the Rift Modulator. This can be found at the facility just to the north of the location marked on the map above. Once acquired, use it on the Rifts around the Grounding Station to give yourself a way to jump onto the top of the station. Drop down inside to recalibrate the nearby Lightning Tower.

What Do You Get For Finding Every Grouding Station in Outer Worlds 2?

Okay, so I just finished the Praetor Grounding Station mission in Outer Worlds 2, and it was totally worth it! I got a good amount of XP, but the really cool part was unlocking these awesome Storm Grenades. Not only did I get a few right away, but I also learned how to make more of them! They’re special because they actually stick to enemies, making them take extra Shock damage. And here’s the best part: if you use them while you’re on Praetor, they call down a crazy lightning storm! Seriously, these grenades are game-changers.

After you finish the mission, Simon will reward you with ten Storm Grenades. If you need more, you can craft them using one Voltspore, three Energy Canisters, and one Black Powder at any crafting bench.

Completing this will also earn you the ‘Praetor Towers Powered’ achievement – a bronze trophy on PlayStation and 15 Gamerscore on Xbox.
