OverActive Media Reports Top Results From CDL Major in Madrid

OverActive Media, the company overseeing Toronto Ultra from the Call of Duty League, has issued a statement after the recent Major tournament in Madrid, Spain. In a press announcement, they acknowledged that Major I, the initial significant event of the CDL 2025 season, was their ‘most successful Major tournament ever held’.

It became known that around 80% of those present at the venue in a Spanish city were from foreign countries, while a total of 12,000 individuals gathered at the Caja Mágica arena.

‘A Defining Moment’

OverActive Media’s CEO, Adam Adamou, explained in the press release:

Uniting elite professionals, groundbreaking tactics, and novel perspectives, we’re fostering stronger relationships with audiences and uncovering untapped sources of income and expansion possibilities.

In Madrid, we’re experiencing an energetic vibe and seeing the fruits of our acquisition efforts – this strengthens our dedication to establishing a worldwide esports enterprise that amuses millions, fostering long-term expansion.

The very first Call of Duty League Major was our most thriving event to date. Over 12,000 tickets were purchased, and astonishingly, about 80% of attendees came from beyond Spain’s borders, boosting tourism and leaving a substantial economic footprint within the local community.

At the arena, the fierce rivalry, along with the worldwide participation, turned this Call of Duty League event into a pivotal milestone, unequivocally demonstrating the expanding influence of our esports within Europe.

I enjoyed participating at the CDL Major in Madrid, where I got to meet some of the top Call of Duty players globally. During my visit, I had the opportunity to chat with Atlanta FaZe, who emerged victorious following a tough Grand Final battle against the LA Thieves.

The inaugural European CDL Major significantly launched the current competitive season, attracting over 233,000 consecutive viewers worldwide. The event underscored Europe’s potential as a highly profitable region for future Call of Duty tournaments, marking the first time this major event was held in Europe throughout the tournament’s history.

Following this, the Call of Duty League will return to the United States as Major II unfolds in Texas during March 2025.

This coming summer, it’s expected that Toronto Ultra will be hosting a CDL event – specifically, the Call of Duty League Championship Tournament – here in Canada.
