Overwatch 2 launched on October 4, 2022, replacing the original Overwatch. Over the past three years, it’s seen 18 seasons with lots of team-up events, temporary game types, and significant gameplay updates. While the game had a difficult beginning, the last year has been very successful, and Blizzard is already hinting at exciting things to come in 2026.
Overwatch 2 Anniversary 2025 Event Details
Blizzard is marking three years of *Overwatch 2* with a celebration of its most popular moments. Starting now and running through October 12th, a different fan-favorite game mode will be back each week, including Prop Hunt, Mirrorwatch, April Fools 2025, and Junkenstein’s Laboratory. Alongside these, players can also enjoy different *Overwatch Classic* rulesets from past years – specifically, those from 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020 – throughout the four-week event.

Gamers who complete weekly challenges during the event will receive awesome rewards. These include three Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes, the new Vampire Regent Lifeweaver Legendary skin, and 20 Mythic Prisms. Mythic Prisms are normally only available through the Premium Battle Pass or by purchasing them directly, so this is the first time Overwatch 2 players can earn them for free.
Adding to the excitement, this event launched with the mid-Season 18 update and a special collaboration between *Overwatch 2* and *Persona 5*. Players can experience game balance changes, play Tracer in the Stadium mode, complete challenges for *Persona 5themed rewards and Battle Pass XP, or buy Phantom Thief skins for Wuyang, Mercy, Genji, Lifeweaver, and D.Va in the in-game store.
To make things even better, *Overwatch 2* is offering free rewards through a new Twitch campaign celebrating Season 18! Watch up to 13 hours of *Overwatch 2* streams on Twitch between now and October 8th to earn cute Wuyang cosmetics, along with a standard and Epic Loot Box.
