Overwatch 2 Begins Crazy Talon-Themed Marketing Campaign

Talon, the villainous organization, has taken control of Overwatch 2. It appears Vendetta, the new hero introduced in Season 20, is the one responsible. This takeover is visible everywhere, from the game’s social media to its in-game branding, and it’s all part of a large marketing push for the upcoming changes to the game.

With Season 20 of Overwatch 2, a new hero named Vendetta became available to play. Vendetta is the daughter of Antonio Bartalotti, a Talon leader who was killed by Reaper. Driven by a desire for revenge against both Overwatch and Talon, Blizzard has hinted at her motives since her initial reveal.

Overwatch 2 Has Been Completely Taken Over by Talon

Blizzard is launching what appears to be its largest marketing push yet for Overwatch 2. As part of the campaign, the game’s villainous organization, Talon, has seemingly taken over all of the official Overwatch 2 social media. The game’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages now feature Talon’s logo and are sharing dark, mysterious content. The Twitter bio now reads, “Talon has seized control of this channel. Only we possess the power to reshape history.”

This takeover isn’t limited to social media; the game itself has been hacked. Talon has replaced the Overwatch 2 logos throughout the game, including on the main menu and in the match finder. Even the Battle.net logo has been changed – while the Overwatch ‘O’ remains, the orange bar is now red and glows ominously.

What Does Talon’s Hostile Takeover Mean for Overwatch 2?

The phrase “Reign of Talon” briefly appeared in promotional images for Overwatch 2 before being taken down. It likely refers to Season 21, which begins February 10th, but the extent of its use suggests it could be a larger event spanning multiple seasons or a major new direction for the game. Evidence, like Talon-themed decorations on the Rialto map shared on Twitter, hints that this might even lead to lasting changes to the game’s environments.

Vendetta is central to the story in this Overwatch 2 campaign. With the new Talon logo resembling a wolf – and Vendetta being nicknamed “La Lupa” (the wolf) – her involvement feels inevitable. Plus, Overwatch 2 recently posted images on Twitter highlighting Talon heroes, including Vendetta, but notably left out Doomfist.

A reliable source who often shares accurate information about Overwatch 2 recently suggested that Vendetta will replace Doomfist as the leader of Talon in an upcoming cinematic. Recent marketing activity seems to support this idea. Jason Hill, the creative director for Overwatch 2’s cinematics and story, recently commented on the rumors on Twitter, hinting that a new cinematic might be released soon.

Good news for us Overwatch 2 players – it looks like we won’t be in the dark for much longer! Blizzard is probably going to start showing off what’s coming in the new season within the next couple of weeks. Plus, they did a Spotlight event back in February 2025, so I’m guessing we’ll see another one this year to give us a sneak peek at the heroes and content planned for 2026. I’m really excited to see what they’ve been working on!

Recently, Overwatch 2 has hinted at the arrival of two new playable characters. Evidence from a Storytime video titled “The Invitation” and discovered in-game voice lines strongly suggest Wuyang’s sister, Anran, will soon join the roster. Additionally, a comic called “Search & Destroy” showed an updated, present-day look for Emre Sarioglu, a character players have anticipated for nearly ten years. With Anran’s fire-based abilities, Emre’s explosive powers, and the ongoing activities of the character Vendetta within Talon, Overwatch 2 is clearly building towards some intense new content, and it doesn’t look like things will be cooling down anytime soon.
