Reports indicate that Vendetta, the new hero joining Overwatch 2 in Season 20, will focus on dealing damage. While many players thought Vendetta would be a tank, it appears Overwatch 2 is getting its first hero specifically designed for close-range combat as a damage dealer.

Blizzard recently introduced Vendetta, a formidable gladiator nicknamed La Lupa, to the world of Overwatch 2. She fights with a blade made of fiery light. While a cinematic trailer showed glimpses of her past, details about how she plays and what she can do in the game haven’t been released yet.

Overwatch 2 Season 20 Hero Vendetta Might Be a DPS

Recently, some reports have surfaced suggesting a surprising role for the new Overwatch 2 hero. While she appears to be a tank, two sources claim she’s actually a damage-dealer. Polygon was the first to report this, stating she is a DPS hero, though they didn’t reveal their source. Esports.gg then followed up, sharing an email they received which described the hero as a “Damage Hero” who “turned her stolen future into a weapon.”

Currently, Blizzard hasn’t officially announced any details about a new hero named Vendetta on other official Overwatch 2 channels. This information might be inaccurate or released prematurely, but it appears Vendetta will likely be a damage-dealing hero in Overwatch 2.

Vendetta is incredibly skilled, demonstrated by her ability to deflect bullets with her sword, perform impressive leaps, create whirlwind attacks, and even slice through large machines with a powerful energy blade. During a special event in Overwatch 2, her mask temporarily boosted movement and attack speed when using melee attacks or abilities. Considering all this, her gameplay style seems like a mix of Genji, Doomfist, and Reinhardt’s Fallen Knight skin from the Mirrorwatch game mode.

Vendetta is a powerful new character with a strong reason to hate both Overwatch and Talon. Her father, a former Talon leader, was killed by Blackwatch during the events of the Overwatch Retribution missions. Recently, Overwatch 2 finished its Null Sector storyline, and everything is in place for Vendetta to arrive as a major new villain, potentially becoming the primary antagonist for many of the game’s heroes.
