As a dedicated Overwatch 2 player with countless hours under my belt (and probably more than I care to admit), I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement about the upcoming changes for Lifeweaver! Ever since his introduction in Season 5, he has been a staple in my team compositions due to his unique abilities. However, like many others, I’ve noticed that he could use a bit of a boost to keep up with the ever-evolving meta.

As a devoted Overwatch gamer, I’m excited to share that our favorite support hero, Lifeweaver, is about to get a boost in power with some fresh updates coming in the next patch! The specifics are under wraps for now, but we can look forward to these changes when Overwatch 2 kicks off Season 12 on August 20.

Ever since he started playing Overwatch 2 during Season 5, which was back in April 2023, Lifeweaver has gained immense popularity due to his unique abilities. His Petal Platform and Tree of Life provide protective cover and advantageous positions for his team, while Life Grip comes in handy for saving players from imminent danger. However, over the past year, Lifeweaver has been facing some challenges. Despite a skilled player potentially securing an Overwatch 2 victory with him, his skill set could benefit from minor adjustments to help him compete more evenly against other support heroes.

Great news for gamers like me! In a recent chat on Group Up! podcast, Overwatch 2’s lead hero designer Alec Dawson and game director Aaron Keller talked with content creators SVB and Flats. Among other things, they talked about early 7v7 tests in the original Overwatch. What caught my attention was when Dawson mentioned his eagerness to enhance the abilities of some underperforming heroes, like Lifeweaver. He even shared that there are changes for Lifeweaver coming in the next update that he’s really looking forward to. “I’m excited about the Lifeweaver updates in the upcoming patch,” he said. “We’re focusing on refining kits and making them even better.”

Lifeweaver Buffs Likely Coming in Overwatch 2 Season 12

In light of the fact that Overwatch 2 Season 12 is scheduled for August 20, it’s reasonable to assume that the “next patch” Dawson mentioned was probably the accompanying balance adjustment. Players should anticipate Lifeweaver being one of the heroes who receive improvements in the upcoming season. However, keep in mind that Overwatch 2 also aims to tackle the pressure placed on tanks, so some changes might be made to the abilities of counter-hero characters to reduce the impact of counterpicking in the FPS game.

It’s yet uncertain what specific adjustments the Lifeweaver updates will encompass, however, there’s a chance that some enhancements Eskay conceptualized for Overwatch 2’s Community Crafted mode may become permanent. In this temporary game setting, Lifeweaver’s Thorn Volley damage and weapon swap speed were amplified, Life Grip’s cooldown was decreased, Petal Platform received two charges and an enhanced jump boost, making the hero noticeably more effective than before.

“I’m thrilled about the upcoming alterations in the next update regarding Lifeweaver. We’re focusing on enhancing its abilities, making them more effective over time.”

Regardless of the choice you make, Season 12 in Overwatch 2 brings a fresh face to the game – Juno. This dynamic support hero comes equipped with fantastic abilities such as speed and damage enhancements, outstanding agility, and powerful burst attacks. Here’s hoping that the planned buffs for Lifeweaver will keep Juno competitive amidst the latest addition to the support team.
