In March 2025, Overwatch 2 received a significant update from Blizzard, featuring considerable balance tweaks and alterations to characters such as Mauga, Roadhog, Ana, among others. This recent Overwatch 2 update has stirred up the game’s meta just a few days after the second collaboration between LE SSERAFIM and Overwatch 2 kicked off, offering fresh skins for several beloved heroes.
On March 18th, Blizzard released an update for Overwatch 2, enhancing subpar abilities, squashing bugs, adding fresh in-game tasks and merchandise, and launching the second LE SSERAFIM collaboration. The LE SSERAFIM partnership offers five new costumes for Tracer, Brigitte, Sombra, Kiriko, and D.Va, and the debut of these outfits was synchronized with Overwatch 2’s latest Twitch Drops and a fresh Discord quest. Consistently, Blizzard has been delivering updates for Overwatch 2 in 2025, and this continues with the balance and hotfix update on March 25th.
In the March 25 update for Overwatch 2, changes have been made to the balance of 11 heroes in both 5v5 and 6v6 game modes. Mauga has experienced significant ability reductions – Cardiac Overdrive no longer grants damage reduction to teammates, and Berserker Passive’s Overhealth conversion rate has decreased. Furthermore, Mauga’s Cage Fight Ultimate has been weakened with an 8% increase in its cost and a decrease in Barrier health from 1500 HP to 1200 HP. Winston also received a similar Ultimate cost increase of 10%. Conversely, Zarya’s Energy Degeneration rate has been increased from 2 to 2.5 per second, and Roadhog’s Take a Breather maximum healing has been boosted from 400 to 450. Additionally, the cost for Roadhog’s Ultimate has decreased by 12%, making it more accessible for Roadhog players, who will now find that their favorite tank hero’s tools are more dependable.
As a gamer diving into Overwatch 2, I noticed some tweaks to my favorite DPS and support heroes. The Peacekeeper’s primary damage falloff range has expanded from 20 to 25 meters, and her secondary fire damage is now cranking out 50 instead of 45. Echo took a hit with his base health dropping from 225 to 150, but his shield health is beefed up to 75. Sojourn’s Power Slide got slightly nerfed; her cooldown time increased to 8 seconds, and the maximum duration was trimmed down to 1 second. Widowmaker got a slight boost with an increase in base health to 225 HP. Ana and Juno were the only support heroes that underwent changes – Ana’s Biotic Grenade cooldown became longer, and Juno’s Orbital Ray Ultimate cost went up.
In Overwatch 2 Season 16, there will be further adjustments to balance and gameplay, along with the debut of a new character named Freja. During the current Season 15, players eagerly testing their preferred heroes might notice hints about Freja scattered across several maps within the game.
